BTW to undo this, just delete the pak01_dir files inside your !mods folder. you can repeat this process anytime to play with any modpack you want!

the vpk files arent unpacked in the vpk unpacked folder. why doesnt unpack?

u could use gcfscape for opening vpks

It broke the game and i coudlnt pick any of the campaigns, i had to change !mods in gameinfo to update.

tried doing this and i ended up with a different file type after merging with the vpk.exe i did everything up to this step the exact same as you not sure why the outcome was different

8:00 when I drag the pak01_dir to the vpk.exe, it doesn't create a vpk of it, but it creates a MDMP File named vpk_assert, help please

is there a limit to the amount of mods you can load? i tried to do like 80 mods and it didnt work but it worked when i did 30 of them so idk if its because my mods are invalid or its just some sort of overload. also do you know any other type of modded files that dont work besides script mods?

I'm gonna redo this tutorial soon, as I discovered this aswell. Let's say you have your 80 mods ready. Select upto 50 vpk files at a time to send to the vpk unpacker. You can then select the rest and send them to the unpacker too. This actually uses the same file it made for the first 50 and compiles them all. It just has a cap to how many it can do at once. Then when you make the compiled folder a vpk it's max size is around 1.3 gbs or else it will fail to compile correctly. So make sure you don't use more than 1.3 or 1.4gbs of mods

@@CaptnShrek nah your good, I was able to unpack about 3 gbs of mods so i dont think the amount unpacked is the main issue. I was able to get like 60 of them working eventualy after trial and error of figuring out what mods i could use. the mods I used were mostly just weapons , reanimations, reskin of weapon and healing items, sounds, inf skins so i dont know the further pushing limits of addons after that. if you were to make a tutorial for the next video, it should just specify which mod files you can or cant load like for example im pretty sure you cant use resource, scripts, or mission files from what I figured out(idk if there is anymore) to allow mods to run smoothly. final advice is just to trial and error the vpk unpacks until you get a crash dump and then unload your mods until pak01_dir vpk finaly works.

it has been patched, it auto crash to desktop everytime I join a versus within seconds.

i did everything right, the cmd opens for a split second then closes and no vpk_unpack appers

Update: I unpacked the vpks into 3 diffrent folders ,tried combing them into 1 and ding get a .vpk, so i made each folder a vpk each name: pak01_dir, pak02_dir, pak03_dir. Joined a official match and out of all my mods, only 2 worked, a custom skin for ellis and one for nick. pls help me, i just wanna enjoy mods in any match, no cheat addons or nothing, just custom skins for survivors, infected and guns, along side some custom animations for the guns. PLS HELP ME

Updatr2: I tried combining all of the pak01,02,03_dir and after i dragedt the pak01_dir onto the vpk.exe I got "vpk_assert_20240615150839_1.mdmp" pls help?

@@kuin4193 i have the same issue, it came out as a "mdmp" file instead of a vpk file
