How to use multimeter to find out car speaker polarity

This video shows how to use multimeter to find out polarity of speakers. The common way of connecting battery to speakers does not work for small speakers.

THANK YOU for this video. I had re-coned (and replaced the spider pad) on a pair of Allison CD6 woofers and (of course) hadn't marked which wire goes where. When I tested the speakers with an amp, they underwhelmed and felt lacking in mids/lows. I wondered if I'd wired and reversed polarity. Anyhow, I looked all over and couldn't see anything from the cone to the terminal that would tell me which wire went where. My only option was to figure out the polarity, but using a 9V battery didn't seem to work. After watching this, I grabbed my multimeter and tested with the "push method", which ended up showing me that at least one speaker was backwards. I just re-tested and these speakers sound phenomenal! Thanks again :)

Not really to the point. Ten minute video? And this isn't even practical in the real world. Real world test would be how to find polarity when you only have access to the wires and the speaker is inaccessible

@@drewnashty It is to the point and while your at it you can use that same DVM to check polarity of the speaker wires easily in seconds. Some people don't mind taking a little extra time with a video to understand the concept.

Is it just me or does he not explain how to tell which are the positive and negative terminals? It's all just explained in relativity to another speaker!! Didn't help at all!
