for anyone who was just as confused as I was about where "variables" are hidden with the Typeform update, click on "logic" and on the left hand side of the window locate "personalize with data" and the sidebar will show "hidden fields" and "variables". tada!

Sadly TypeForm has changed. The advanced tab is no longer there
