Finally somebody who is explaining it in simple terms. So many professionals and recovery story people are out there giving advice but it is SO confusing. When you live in Chronic Pain with hundreds of symptoms, low mood, anxiety and toxic self talk you can not untangle all the information. I have literally spent hours, days, weeks trying to understand what to actually do. This is concise and a simple practice that I can put into action right away! Thank you 🙏

Education is the most important thing as Dr Shubiner says, If you don’t understand it and believe it the odds of it working or slim I can still work but the chances go down. You can still do it even if you believe it 70% 50% but the more you believe the better the odds are for you.

Dr Stein, This is the second video I've seen you in. I LOVE your work. Dr Caroline Leaf was the first person I listened to about Neuroplasticity. I don't use Alcohol as a Medication anymore, I now live a Spiritual life, and My Mental Health has improved. I still have many issues to deal with in my Recovery. Thanks to People like you posting on Social Media I have been able to access help. @ 64 years old I know, as Dr Wayne Dyer said it, Change Your Thoughts Change Your Life. Your neoplastic talk is what I have been doing for my fibro and bone pain…..but never knew it was Something that was a workable program for others. Wow. You explained it ! The doctors are always surprised at my pain level is so high. (Takes work ). I drove myself to hospital when I have broken bones, appendix attack, etc. I can’t seem to have the fatigue work well with this, however, as a whole I’m so happy that it works for pain,

Neuropathy pain in both legs and numbness is limiting what I can do. After a stroke. A year later still looking for an answer. Doing more but pain does not go away. Steroid shots and exercise but still pain.

I understand the question or if you feel more pain after doing activities. Even mild activities as with atypical trigeminal neuralgia and severe pain any kind of concentration reading a book walking it all increases my pain. I might be diverted for a while but I’ll always pay for it when I get home and have to do extra meditation to calm it down. Or people talk about flares if you get a flare, well what if your pain is 24 seven yes there are times it gets worse But It’s always there. I agree you can’t do Nothing you have to at least get out in the sun do what you can do, even if you only have the ability to get to the store and come home go for a short walk I personally feed homeless cats the best I can. I’ll go to the beach even though I know my pain will be worse afterwards. I’m hoping doing this type of work will help me to start feeling less and less pain, meaning the brain retraining.

I assume this works for fatigue I’m new at this I have chronic trigeminal neuralgia but I did do a lot of research on DNRS And there are so many recovery stories with chronic fatigue back to full function you may want to check that out.

A question for Dr. Stein from a sixty-one year old doctor struggling with CPPS/CP (Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome/ Chronic Prostatitis): Is the pain of CPPS one hundred percent 'neuroplastic' or is the pelvic floor much too structurally complex to be addressed solely by the Mind-Body approach? Would you deal with a CPPS patient from basically the same premise as you would when treating a patient with fibromyalgia or migraine or chronic back pain? I have suffered from migraine in the past and I have lived with IBS for over forty years but the pain of CPPS is a whole different ball game IMO. The penile pain makes you want to throw up and the anorectal pain feels like having a burning rod up your arse. If this comes on in the middle of the night and goes on for hours it's well nigh impossible to convince yourself there's nothing 'wrong there' and 'this too shall pass'.

When I was reading your comment I had to share some information with you because I experience almost same symptoms, Im 32 but started getting these symptoms in my late teens. So it’s not do to getting older !! Daily chronic migraines, between upper neck and lower skull , eyes , feet pain leg pain , ibs and pelvic pain , testicular pain that moves around, penis pain and burning almost like it was a damaged nerve, Allodynia Your pain coming in at night makes perfect sense, I say that because is a 2 part process, tension and autonomic nervous dysfunction ( restriction blood flow ) I was having panic attacks in my sleep , I woke up in the middle of the night and I immediately noticed something, I WAS TENSING MY PELVIC FLOOR AREA , soon as I started to realize this it was a 💡 It TAKES Time to untense , you have a lot of fear , worry s , and emotional stress ,

I Got interstitial cystitis pelvic floor muscle spasms vulvodynia and vulvar vestibulitis Back in the mid 90s along with CFS and fibromyalgia. Unfortunately I now deal with extreme facial pain from a Dentist he said he could cover me with an insane surgery. But that’s another story that’s why I’m here. But I want to tell you I suffered with this horrific pain pudendal neuralgia feeling like there was a tampon inside me, and a tennis ball up my butt. That part was created by a gynecologist who did a shot in my pudendal nerve which is insane I told him not to. Could’ve sued them but didn’t have the energy. Internal trigger point therapy was the only thing that kept me from killing myself. After a decade of this I left a beautiful home I lived in in Newport Beach California with a partner who is not supportive after I got sick he said it wasn’t part of the deal, great guy huh? I was in entrepreneur didn’t get disability right away very long story but I was stuck there. I finally left after about six years thought I was gonna have to move in with my mom who smokes in Illinois which would have driven me crazy because I had chemical sensitivities. I gathered all the money I had left wasn’t much and use credit cards to stay in a small Studio. I began just exploring Southern California where I live doing fun things not talking to anyone I was in severe depression from all the pain keep in mind I had the trigeminal neuralgia and TMJ as well pain burning while sitting was insane had to lay on ice packs sit on ice packs, learned how to do trigger point therapy on my self that helped but never got rid of anything. I don’t know what happened I can’t tell you the day the painStarted to go away it just started slowly to dissipate. Maybe because I left a moldy house couldn’t see it but it was there I could smell it so could my best friend he wouldn’t fix what was most likely in the walls. So may be leaving that had something to do with it leaving a toxic narcissist but I would say a big part of it was I started doing fun things I got a book by Norman cousins called the power of positive thinking here this was back in the 90s no KZbin. Got off all of the depressing yahoo support groups. Lost my insurance had no more money to go to all of the holistic doctors I had spent 150 K on. Slowly but surely my pain started disappearing. I honestly didn’t even notice till one day I said holy crap where is all that pain. I was so focused on enjoying as much of California as I could somehow my mind was elsewhere and I was moving around I went from bedridden for years to hiking, walking at the beach staying out late because I was enjoying myself so much which sounds are because I was still depressed. Makes no sense but the point is you can get better, I just now heard about these programs I refused to research anything about illness I knew that I was made me worse but in the end that didn’t help me because all this great information about brain retraining is out there. Get on Dan Bugliosi site if you haven’t yet I know you posted this a long time ago. Get some relief as you go with trigger point relief but start working on brain retraining getting your mind off of it doing things you enjoy. I couldn’t talk because of the pain I just did things by myself I still have tight pelvic floor muscles not as tight but they’re tight but I have zero pain. Occasionally I’ll getA little flareup if I eat too much acidic food but it goes away very quickly. You don’t have to live with this I had it over a decade God bless❤

No injury at all. Idk what happened. I had horrible foot pain off and on. Then it happened in July along with horrible lower back oain and never shut off. Drs can't find anything mechanically wrong. Hopefully its not autoimmune and ill find out soon 😢 the pain has been so debilitating

34 : 45 I am a person with a brain injury i have many different thoughts with what you are saying with-in this talk. My brain was told i would be a vegetable or Brain damaged. I have i loved veggies have BD , but. I weak talk have coordination and balance challenges, some to say is there but, quite a stretch if what tire saying.?

As far as some process in the body that’s shutting down mitochondria, was she referring to chronic pain? Or chronic fatigue? When she was referring to a full recovery might not be possible? I am just trying to differentiate.

I think that the mitochondria changes in ME/CFS is a downstream effect of a maladaptive stress response. I think saying that “recovery might not be possible” for this group of people is a dangerous statement and can act as a nocebo

I’ve been reading about DNRS hundreds and hundreds of people healing from ME/CFS in addition to mold sensitivities CIRS MCAS you name it check out the success stories unbelievable, I had those symptoms but and still have some but nowhere near as bad as a lot of these people somehow to live outside of their home in a tent. Then you see them after they finish the program they look like totally different people sound like totally different people. Many good relief within a week or two some take longer of course.

In many talks like this its presented as if the patient at the onset of pain was "reset" to no activities, so that now he can gradually come back to life. Thats maybe true for devastating injuries. Unfortunately i suspect in most patients this is not the case, but kinda the opposite, We try to cling to our former activities until the disease forces us to our knees and deconditions us over the course of months or years. All the sarno guys have a nice theory but zero proof behind it. Very frustrating for all of us suffering. Also I believe these therapists take no responsibility whatsoever as in the back of their minds they expect the patient to get worse. If he remains stable or has a spontaneous remission they can write that down as a success story.

The person helping you to get rid of pain usually has had pain themselves and they have their own programs it’s all the same stuff. Back pain for 20 years, neuralgia pains you name it. I would only work with someone who believed it 100% likeThe doctors and people who wrote books and have programs people who have suffered themselves and saw at work with them and so excited to get back. I have not done the program yet I’m just saying you have to believe it and so does the person helping you.
