***** hello, today i went to my service provider and one of the pcs worked fine, the other one only worked for internet explorer, the other browsers did not work. so i dont know where the problem is, i havnt done anything to this computer but it seems to be working now, at least it worked for more than 30 minutes. i tried uninstalling and installing google chrome and it doesnt work on one of my pcs

***** well internet explorer was working a while ago and now it stopped working. the service provider said there is nothing wrong with my router, then how come each time i use internet here everything stops working?

Troubleshooting network issue with an app like the browser may not be the best way to troubleshoot. your network could be working but there would be problems at the application level.

Hi did you find answer yet? please try rebboot your computer and respond with results.

Try troubleshooting bottom up. Check the physical connections, switch ports and use tools such as PINg and Tracert to figure out where the issue is.

how come avast with win10 security not catch a DNS change from malware?
@itgeared Жыл бұрын
DNS, without DNSSEC, is insecure. Malicious actors will try to DoS your DNS infrastructure, get in the middle of the responses between client and server, and/or try to modify the HOSTS file on your local system (the resolver). Some of the better endpoint/network security solutions may help with protection of this process.

Could you please help me to resolve dns issue. Ptr record is creating dynamically
@itgeared Жыл бұрын
In a Windows environment, you can have your clients automatically update both forward and reverse lookup zones automatically. This is a controlled setting. Check your DNS zone, SOA record for more details. If you need additional help, I just setup a Discord Server. feel free to join for more conversation.

figures it's the avast browser that doesn't work which throws the dns errors.

How can I check the DNSSEC for website???
@JorgeMederos3 жыл бұрын
Not available with nslookup. You can use dig if you are running macOS or Linux. Otherwise there are tools online. Check with verisign.

@@JorgeMederos Can I get the Exact link, if possible. Is there any way to do it on windows?
@itgeared Жыл бұрын
You can use PowerShell in Windows using the Resolve-DnsName cmdlet. In Linux, use dig. There are also online DNS tools that can help you determine if the DNS query includes DNSSEC in the response.

sorry about the 10 year late response, but i have been away from the channel.. For anyone else that may be reading the comments... when you have an issue as described here, start with troubleshooting at the bottom up. Check the network cables, switch ports and make sure they are working properly. Since this is only happening to one computer on the network, run some connectivity tests. Also, how is the computer connecting to the Internet? is there any software that is used to connect or filtering the traffic. Maybe just try to connect a different network card to the computer...for example, via USB just to determine if the issue is with the NIC or somewhere else.

What's the meantime of non-authorative answer.....plzzz tell
@itgeared4 жыл бұрын
If you are asking about time related to cache, the TTL assigned to the record within its authoritative zone is what is applied.

non-authoritative means that the DNS server providing you the answer got it from another DNS server. It does not host that zone so it cannot give you an authoritative answer.

my says server: unknown address: 85.255.112.139 DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds. DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds. DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds. DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds. what should i do?
@itgeared Жыл бұрын
The "server: unknown" is because the IP for that DNS server has no corresponding PTR record to display the name. The "DNS request timed out." is due to your client trying to send multiple variations of your request for name resolution, usually because the network adapter has more than one domain suffix. Check your network adapter properties and if you continue to have difficulty, set your client to communicate with another public DNS server (for example, google's DNS of 8.8.8.8)

@JorgeMederos4 жыл бұрын
Actually, the 127.0.0.1 is the IP address that is assigned to the TCP/IP stack. Look at 5:13 in the video and you can see the record in the zone.

127.0.0.1 is a loopback address. every TCP/IP device will have this config.
