HOW TO use PET tape, type, how to store and where to get them (JOURNALING 101 Ep2 )

PET tapes are a gamechanger in my journaling experience, and I know that it can be a little confusing to use, so I hope this video will make it easier for you to start with yours. It will be quite long and I tried to pack as much value as I can, so feel free to jump through the sections you find related. As someone completely unfamiliar with these tapes, why are buying these tapes better than just buying pre-cut stickers?

Great question. For me these tapes are more like DIY stickers. They're around 20-30AUD per roll of usually 10metre of tapes, while stickers are around 4-6AUD per sheet. One loop of tape definitely has more designs than one sticker sheet. In the long run if you journal a lot and like the design enough to keep using it, it's much more economical.

That is so funny because that's exactly what happened to me. Once I started to look at it and used my scissors to scratch it up and then it was easy to see. I will say I don't think I will purchase these again. Probably just buy the normal stickers

I have a question…..just started using these tapes….they are beautiful! I have heard that there are a few companies who sell “Pre-Cut” PET tapes….that just lift off like stickers so you do not have to fussy cut them……do you know where you can get those? Thank you for your video…..very helpful!

This is a great question. When I made this video they aren't too widely available yet, but now they are certainly getting slightly more popular. Hi! Just found your channel :) I love pet tapes (both plastic and washi ones because they give off different "feeling", do i make sense? 🤔) and was struggling with how to store them: I initially cut off a loop and was storing them like that, all curled up but was complicated to see the designs Then a day i saw a girl storing hers in a binder like you, using the 2 columns sheets and i fell in love! I find this system really easy to choose from and organize and if you have trouble with small parts you can try use a zip pocket for planner (i have an A5 binder and an A6 pocket fit in the holes less or more). Anyway, really informative video, thank you! Going to check your other videos 😊

Storing them as a roll for me doesn't really work cause most of the time I wanted designs that are in the middle of the roll haha. The binder is the one I go by now :) I'll have a research on the zip pocket planner you mentioned. Thanks for the tip!

I have gotten my first PET roll and I am so frustrated because I can’t get the backing off! What she does here is not working for me - very, very frustrated!

Oh no, I've tried poking the ends with a kraft knife, also I've seem someone stick a washi tape on the front (and a surface) then slowly peel it that way. Hopefully one of the methods work for you! I find that the lower quality PET tape has thin backing tape so it's harder to unpeel.

that is from traveler's notebook B sides insets, they call it a 'sticker release book', it's unfortunately limited edition and hard to find, but any sticker book will work the same way. hope that helps :)

What is a the difference between washi tape and PET tape

I think I explained this around 02:40 but PET usually uses clear tape while washi texture is slightly closer to paper, so washi is better used on light coloured paper. These days some washi are created to have backing paper too. Hope that helps

They dont come apart as easy as your saying

Not all of them are made equal. The ones from Taiwanese artists has thicker backing so it's much easier to peel off, and these are the ones I mostly get. The ones from Chinese artists tends to be cheaper so they have very thin backing that it's really hard to peel. You can try using a kraft knife to poke the edges so it separates, or use a washi tape to help peel it off. Hope that helps!
