Great tutorial! Finally someone who takes the time to ACTUALLY show us where to find the Tab and what everything means. I have waded through so many presenters who apparently practice circular breathing and never shut up. The mouse cursor stays on the drawing only, at lightning speed as if somehow this would make us click like & subscribe, which we don't! I learned a lot today and I am happy and now subscribed 😀

Thank you for the tutorial. Its been very informative and have finally got a handle on this phasing. Thank you for taking the time to do this. Very much appreciated. How do you allocate room tags to Phasing or do you just hide it, is there a "right" way of doing this ?

I have learned a lot and in a very short time thanks for that. And I will expand the phases as I have several conversions in successive staggered time lines.

Hi, thanks for such a great channel. I am working on a historical renovation project where some elements such as doors and windows are going to be removed for cleaning and then reinstalled. Do I need an specific filter or new phase only for those specific elements? I really appreciate your help. Thanks
@ArchitectureVanguard2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the kind words! Here's a general rule for phases and considering new ones: Is the work you are considering for a new phase going to be done at a different time or broken out specifically in the construction as separate in some way? If so, it should be a new phase, otherwise, a filter, temporary phase or something else. Hope that helps
@axdn2 жыл бұрын
@@ArchitectureVanguard Thanks for your quick response. This is kind of tricky situation: Several existing elements are removed to be repaired and placed back as part of the conclusion of the project. I am confused on which phase they should go. Maybe create a new phase where elements are created in existing phase, and placed as temporary and then completed? any further clarification it will very appreciated, Thanks,

pls make a complete project video in revit ...that would be great

How does this phasing work in refleced ceiling plans? I have put in an ACT in areas of the plan based on existing conditions. Now when putting in the Demo ceilings the ACT does not show up with the red dashed print like a wall. I found that it is a pattern. But the pattern is only available for Draft mode and none of the patterns gives me a hidden linwork. Plus if putting in the draft pattern puts that pattern in all the ceilings that are demo not just the ACT patterns. The only work around I have found is putting in a pattern for demo on the ACT grid to be demolished and then match the coloring on the walls to the patterns. This works but it places the pattern on the existing plan as well. So You would not be able to print an existing plan in the set. Only a Demo and a New. If you have any alternate plan for Demolition of ceilings let me know. I would love to see a video on this. Thanks

Any new model placed will default to New Construction. You might be able to change that in the phasing options. You might check the material on the ceiling or the view settings for ceilings you are drawing in. I would say as long as you have your models on the correct phase and each view with the correct phase settings as to what you want to see, then you are good. Make sure Show previous + New is on for basic new construction plans and you would have Previous + Demo for the demo plans. With modeled elements on the correct phase you would see what you need to. Also check phase filters as those would affect how you see phased elements globally.

Good explanation. Sometimes I want to show the existing “Room tag” when I’m showing “Previous + Demo” and those existing room tags disappear. That’s because I don’t want to show an existing floor plan (on the set of drawings). Can I change those existing rooms to demo phase, so they can be shown on my “Previous + Demo” phase??
@ArchitectureVanguard3 жыл бұрын
Through my experience, I have not typically shown rooms tags on demo floor plans. The problem with this is that rooms are created in the phase the vies are created in. You are likely not creating rooms in your demo plan views that have the previous phase set. You also probably do not have the previous phase set on those demo drawings so you can see the demo lines instead of existing lines. I hope all that makes sense.

How do you phase areas, not rooms? i.e. a group of 3 rooms are existing offices. So on the existing area plan their areas are offices. In new work one office is now a conference room (assembly area). How does that get shown in the new area plan?
@ArchitectureVanguard2 жыл бұрын
Areas cannot be phased unfortunately. Rooms can be but they are based on the phase the view is in when you make the room.

Is there a filter that can show existing, demo and new? Can one be created?
@ArchitectureVanguard2 жыл бұрын
The best filter to do that is "Show All" filter. I tend to avoid this only because you do see everything including the temporary construction.

What happens when there is multiple phases - say 1, 1.5, 2 (these are phases the arch has & their model is linked into ours). We want to show phase 1 - do we get the arch's newer phases to not show?
@ArchitectureVanguard2 жыл бұрын
You can handle that through the visibility graphics per view or view template in the linked models. You could also match their phasing so that things show up by default more correctly.
@rutht15372 жыл бұрын
@@ArchitectureVanguard Thank you - we have matched their phasing & it's still showing all the newer phases that we don't want to see on the sheets yet.

I was working backwards, I guess. I created the existing walls of the structure, and designated them as existing, then added new walls and named them as new construction. I have different copies of the same levels but they are labelled as either existing or new. But watching your video, each level should be labelled new construction? In the existing level 1, there are walls surrounding empty space (garage), but in new level 1, there new walls, floor, windows, and doors. In existing level 1, I want only the original existing walls, etc. to show. suggestion?
@ArchitectureVanguard3 жыл бұрын
Then I would think that for existing level 1 then you can view the original walls by having the phase be new construction and showing previous only as the filter.

Revit phasing is soooooo confusing and the Revit programmers have no idea how phasing works in the real construction and design world...They should redesign this whole process and simplify this horrible method!
