Hi, What if the trigger file is updated via ODBC connection. In other words the sql update is not in AS4OO BUT in access database which is linked to AS400.

PF triggers are used for logging which can be done through journals as well. But when we have a situation to do some business action during add/delete/update PF then triggers comes into picture. Example: Assume we have Product Inventory table and whenever new Item/Quantity is added/modified we need to interface the information to other system (like POS, SAP) in specific format (like CSV, XML) then we can attach a trigger to the file and trigger program can be used to generate interface files. This cannot be done via Journals, because it just keeps track of data getting modified.

I not sure about any native IBM i command for this. Normally we used to do this using Hackeye tool.

Use dspdbr command provide library name and physical file name.
