I need to make one for a 1/4 speaker jack to control the one monitor speaker volume running off the main speakers?
@stagehand90022 жыл бұрын
Thats exactly what i need to do - bridge my 200w bi-amp to 400. run a 1/4 cable off the main speaker to a monitor speaker but be able to control the monitor volume - did u have any luck?

Thanks!!! Did the potentiometer adjustment make the volume linear? I'm thinking of doing this to control the volume of a preamp output.

Can I use a 3 pin B20k potentiometer if I have a mono signal?
@acquireelectricity14583 жыл бұрын
yes you can, I tried 3 pin B10K pot and it worked fine, also for mono signal
@MokshDhawan3 жыл бұрын
You’d just bridge the pins this lad’s using for left and right, I think
@IWillBrutalyRemoveYourBalls3 жыл бұрын
@@MokshDhawanNo,That's a verry big mistake! if you want good sound quality and your audio input device to work properly you need to isolate the channels from each other with 2 resistors and only then you can bridge the channels to get a mono signal.

Will this work on the speaker output from a small amp to a speaker? I have this bazooka tube bluetooth speaker and it's mono and when I turn it on and put the radio on it blasts full volume. Can I add a volume potentiometer between the amp board and the speaker to control the volume so it doesn't blast my ears out and then turn it up to the level I want? There are just two wires going to the speaker, positive and negative.

Que tal te go una pregunta ? Por ejemplo en un equipo de sonido puedo bajarle el volumen poniendo un potenciometro a una sola bocina y la otra si que venga directa del equipo y solo poniéndole por a una

You should use a 1k type A potentiometer, it would produce much much better results and the volume control would be smoother because type A are logarithmic. Also, 10k is too much as you did in your video, I would recommend 1k.

Hi Gil. I want to add a pot to my speakers to only control the tweeters (they are way too much). What do you recommend, and why? Thanks in advance!

@@gyat63 Thanks, but, but isn't that a fixed-level attenuation? I came across some things called L-pad attenuators that claim to adjust volume without changing the resistance, however I installed some from Parts Express per the instructions but they don't do anything noticeable. The ideal solution would be the ability to go from full output down to zero output at my discretion..... Thoughts?

Allow me to introduce a new unit of measurement for sound volume, which I call vovol* (abbreviated: volume voltage). THIS IS HOW IT WORKS: You use two pre-stages, one with positive volume values, and the other negative. For example, so has the pre-step with positive values a measurement from +0 decibels up to +20, while the one with negative values, has from -0 decibels down to -20 decibels. The highest voltage occurs when the value is +20 and -20 decibels (or: 20 vovol), while there is low voltage, when the value is on +0 and -0 decibels (or: 0 vovol). You can possibly also combine two different values with each other, by adjusting the value to +10 -20 vovol, which gives a crisper effect. Have experimented with this myself at work and at home. The adjustment can of course be set to taste, but the purpose of vovol for me is to equalize the sound volume, so that you better hear weak sounds and at the same time avoid high deafening sound levels (loudness war's). Thank you for reading this! Take care of your hearing... :-)
