Thanks for the very helpful video. Two questions please: 1) I will be travelling to Tallin next month with my 12-yr-old child and I would like to know if we need to buy two individual Smartcards upon arrival (and load them with 3-day tickets each), or if the amount of these two 3-day tickets can be loaded on one single SmartCard (and used for both passengers). 2) As regards Apple Pay direct from phone, it seems that it is only valid for plain 1-hour tickets (for one or more passengers) and cannot be used as a substitute of a Smartcard for multi-day tickets, did I get it correct?
@VisitTallinn
@VisitTallinn 20 күн бұрын
Hi, here are the answers to your questions: 1). You can use your Smartcard to buy tickets for up to 6 passengers. First, validate your own journey, then select the number of additional tickets using the arrows. Press OK and hold your card against the validator for each extra ticket. More info on ticket validation is available here: www.tallinn.ee/en/pilet/smartcard. 2). Unfortunately, you cannot charge day tickets directly to your bank card or Apple Pay. However, the system tracks your usage and will charge you for the cheapest ticket option, so multiple one-hour tickets in one day count as a day ticket. Remember to validate each entry. More details on payments are here: www.visittallinn.ee/eng/visitor/plan/transport/public-transport#where-to-buy-the-different-tickets. Hope this helps!

@@VisitTallinn thanks for your answers. It seems that I will need to get two Smartcards to be on the safe side, as I want to buy two 3-day tickets specifically, and still I’m not sure whether or not this product (3-day ticket) can reside on the same Smartcard for more than one users.

Great video! One question... If you pay for public transport with your bank card, how to you provide proof of payment to a fare inspector if asked? Do you receive a receipt after tapping your bank card? Unlike most transport issued payment cards (which can be checked by an inspector) a normal bank card cannot.
@VisitTallinn
@VisitTallinn Жыл бұрын

Hi, thank you for such a great video. I have one question, though. I am going to Estonia with my boyfriend in a month or so and we are planning to use the reogional bus number 151 to travel from Tallinn to the Lahemaa national park. How do I buy ticket for this bus? I suppose regional busses work a little differently than tallinn public transport but I can not find any useful information online. Thank you so much!
@VisitTallinn

You can still use the Ühiskaart (smart card), top it up with cash and buy ticket on the bus with that. This line should also accept cash payments.

Hello please give me a proper answer, I am gonna buy this green card, I want 5-day ticket which costs 9 euros( I saw that info in Internet), so my question is: For example, I bought this 5-day ticket and the card, and I want to to uae publi transport for 4 times per day, do I need to take for example 20-30€ on that green card or paying that 9 euros is enough for traveling during these 5 days? Should I be charged every time I use the public transport if I have 5-day ticket? It a little bit confusing
@VisitTallinn
@VisitTallinn Жыл бұрын
Hi, If you buy a 5-day ticket, then this is what you pay for. No extra money needed (apart from the 2 euros that you pay for the Smart Card). Note that the prices of the tickets change on may 1, 2023. The 5-day ticket will then cost 11€.

Hi, is it possible to use a foreign contactless bank card in the same way as the smartcard, when going on the bus/tram between the airport and the city centre? And if someone comes to check that you have a ticket, how can they check that you have a valid ticket, if you've paid using your contactless bank card?

@VisitTallinn
@VisitTallinn 7 ай бұрын
Yes, all of Tallinn's public transport vehicles have validators for contactless cards. NOTE that they are ALWAYS at the first entrance. Only some vehicles have contactless card validators also at other entrances, but always by the first entrance. Your other option is a mobile app and purchasing the hourly ticket. And then you also have the Ühiskaart (like a top-up type of card). Since Tallinn is quite small and compact I would either go for contactless card payment for hourly tickets. You might actually find out that you don't need to use public transport that much. All explained also here: www.visittallinn.ee/eng/visitor/plan/transport/public-transport

From the validators in the vechicles or ticket maschines (at the airport and bus station) you can buy one hour tickets only. If you want to get the one day ticket, you need the green Smart Card (Ühiskaart) and then you can buy various ticket types on it. You need to swipe your Smart Card each time you enter to the public transport. More here: www.visittallinn.ee/eng/visitor/plan/transport/public-transport#ticket-prices
