I've often found that even this is a little too complicated for some groups when it comes to more casual tactical shooters like Squad. What I've found to be a little more quick and effective is calling out simple formations and movements, since most people can understand and execute commands like "Spread out and form a (horizontal) line and move forward". Since the natural tendency of people on the edge of a fight is to flank while anyone caught in the middle of the fire tend to stop and fight back making a pseudo base of fire and flanking element like what Karmakut described

It's not that unrealistic, to be fair, and minimizes spotting problems which would arise from different monitor resolutions.

Great stuff, it takes a lot of work to get to this level of cohesion and efficiency, this is also a good example of the multiplying effect that leadership can have on the combat power of an unit, a simple ambush without the flanking maneuver probably wouldn't have yielded such good results.

you gotta be part of a clan to get movement like that in squad, even the most organized pub squads are just a mass of 10 people moving around, the newbie friendly ones are just 10 people playing slow COD.

In the PVPVE servers OpFor slots are only open to KOG and some KT, BluFor is open to the public. Resulting in lack of unit cohesion and plenty of new guys. Can’t say it’s not fun tho 😂

What a lot of games can’t get right is the element of surprise. This is a 24/7 server which means players aren’t locked in and wired the entire time. Complacently kills, players get bored waiting for something to happen and drop security, which makes surprise attacks very effective.

Squad tactics in games definitely work but they can still be overcome by mechanical skill in ways that wouldn't really happen irl. Because the only skill involved is pressing buttons and moving a mouse generally speaking

This is unrealistic because the soldiers in this game don't have noodles for arms, they are using their buttstock and cheeckweld, and the screen isn't blurry...
