Thank you Daniel for your helpful video. I always imagined Notion to be so complex to set up. Your stage by stage videos make getting started achievable and fun. I’m going to watch the whole series. Keep up the good content.

I'm still in the process of setting up my dashboard but your tip on having a database be related to itself is actually such a great idea. Saves me the headache of coinciding properties from 2 different databases. Thank you!

Thanks a lot! I found this and your other video very helpful. May I ask for some advice? Now I'm lost in creating something very similar to recipe book. Say we have one thing (recipe A) related to several products of some quantity respectively. So I tie together 2 databases - recipes and ingredients. Now I want another thing (recipe B) consisting of the same ingredients but in other quantities, within the same 2 databases if it's possible. Can't do that. Nobody can as I can see. Hope it was understandable)) it seems like I have nothing to do but to break the relation between product and its quantity but it ruins the whole thing

Hey there! Thanks for checking out the video. I can try my best to help! Could you have a column of ingredients for each recipe that are a relation and then a "scale" column next to the ingredients that tells you how much of each ingredient you should have for each recipe? Let me know if that helps or if there is any other way I can help you out. This sounds like a really interesting idea! 😃

@@daniellangewisch thanks for your help. Well, finally I managed to settle the things up by creating a small additional table inside the template for the new recipe. And the name property in in is the abbreviation of the name of an ingredient. Then follow quantity, unit of measure and preparation tips. It takes me now less than a couple of minutes to fill in the new recipe all with searchable inputs. Unfortunately most of so called recipe managers by Notion users are just a heap of tagged links or videos

@@daniellangewisch by the way. The relations function gave me a great idea I've been meaning to implement. A lot of times when I am in meeting I can forget half the things I wanted to discuss with a specific person. I just created a People table, I listed people I normally meet with, work and personal, and started to relate them to other databases. E.g. if I come across a great book or video, or link, or task, I add it to my Media database and relate that entry to a specific person. - Next time I meet someone I will be able to just pull a list of topics to discuss from the People table. - BTW, it's awesome that you didn't take my initial comment as negative. Your video was insightful!
