Very cool explanation of the parameters and settings one would encounter in most digital reverbs that are out there. You continue to really cover the essentials that people can use to get their home recordings in shape. Good job! One thing I didn't see here in the stock Audition reverb was "Pre-Delay" which is a great tool for adjusting just how much imagined "space " is happening in between the audio track playing and when the actual reverberation kicks in. For example, a longer pre-delay will move the reverb tail out of the way of the vocals, making them much more present and understandable. It's a very subtle addition to the reverb color palette; and maybe the convolution reverbs in Audition have it; I don't know. I use Reaper these days. Secondly - I was curious if you'd experimented with using Reverb as a send effect as opposed to inserting it directly on the track itself. As in, you send the dry vocal track (for example) to another track , put the reverb on THAT track and adjust it to 100% wet mix. Now you've created a reverb with it's own volume control and all you'll hear on it is the effected signal that you can then blend into the mix to taste. Bonus with this method is that you can route several tracks to the same reverb, and use it as the reverb "glue" to put everything in the same space; and use a fraction of the computer's CPU because you're only running one instance of reverb. Anyway, great to see what you're doing here; super informative stuff. Best - M

MARSHOMEWORLD Great suggestion on the "send". That would definitely have its advantages and use less CPU power. And I'm not entirely sure why I skipped over Pre-Delay other than the fact that I didn't want this video to be too long. Thanks for your feedback, it seems like I could learn some stuff from you!

@Wisiimyl
@Wisiimyl 9 жыл бұрын
+BluBird I have used Audacity for recording before. It is great and simple, but when I switched to Cubase AI (came with my interface) I got options to fine tune and add effects more precisely. For demos its great, but if you want to record more advanced music, then use a better DAW (Reaper for example). Although if your songs consist of mainly vocals and acoustic guitar, you´ll be fine. Cheers!

6:25 You cant hear it because you have the Wet on 25%, ma man. 2000 ms (2 secs) of decay (correct name: reverberation time, which is the point where the reverberated signal falls 60dB) is a quite high time for a reverb.. so maybe you arent setting up your pluggin correctly if you cant hear the reverb. By the way, 10000ms are 10 seconds...

So, after watching the whole video: 1) You totally skipped without even mention the existence of early reflections. 2) You had to google what damping meant and added the text in post "for the sake of time" (having left clear that time wasnt a concern to you, on the contrary you would made the first 4 mins about "*Reverb - Parameters Explained*" and not a sketch+general reverb talking
