My mother is on my lease, but her boyfriend isn't. They've been staying with me for 3 years, paying $1,000 together for a room. They give me money orders to cover rent, which I deposit and pay from my account. I'm in the process of buying a house and was pre-approved for a conventional loan, but I plan to ask for an increase using their contributions. I write them a receipt after depositing their combined money orders. Can I use this to get my lender to adjust the loan amount, and if so what proof should I provide?
