Bought your "Seize the Center" course on Chessable... I found the course amazing but discovering your channel even more so! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Also thank you for not messing around and being very direct, that's so refreshing. Warm regards from Montenegro! :)

@@ChessCoachAndras Thank you sir! As a "long time" London player I think I might have ran into you just in time for salvation... :D Since I started to get bored out of my mind I switched to the English Opening - Botvinnik system. Now I understand that that's another no go in your book since I'll be reaching similar positions all the time but if you could share some thoughts on this system in an upcoming video that would be amazing. Cheers! :) p.s. Some context: I never intended to study Chess seriously. I am playing chess online for a few years and am 33 atm. I accidentally ended up in a national team championship where I was asked to fill in a seat for one team and just go get myself killed so they wouldn't get penalized for not showing up. I almost won one game against an 1800 but couldn't convert and "sacrificed" my piece for two passed pawns and drawn instead. Even so this was a shocker and I was very happy and got very drunk that evening. A few other games were pretty good too - 30ish equal moves against a 2200 etc. So I decided to get more serious and do my best to score at least one point next summer. Since I am an adult with next to no experience compared to the competition I started studying the English Botvinnik in a hope to get the opponents out of their comfort zones and improve my odds of victory. Other then that I am doing my best to take your advice and am getting demolished with e4 openings but I'm sure it'll be worth it. Apologies for taking your time with this long explanation, thought it might be important for the question. :)

Now coach Andras is going to change three things in my chess: 1. In the first step I am analyzing my rapid games without engine. 2. Creating a database file for anchor games. To remember opening lines easier. 3. Add studies to my tactics training to improve my calculation (and vision). Before I hated studies.

So, have you truly solved the last study if you don't think you'll remember how to mate with the bishop and knight? As ever, really helpful. I have tended to think about puzzles as weird positions with beautiful motifs that never actually turn up and that I shouldn't really prioritise. But I can see how ones at the right level are great for calculation.

Perhaps I will make a video about this question. A study is composed , a puzzle is a fragment of a game .
