Oh wow! That's crazy. I bend going down but not up. Practice time!

How are you getting on it with it?

Unsponsored plug! Tahake Flutes, NZ, found on Esty has some blues tuned whistles. Check out "Bessie" and "Sonny" on his site. John also offers a hijaz, mid-eastern scale whistle. Sure, it's not blues, but it is an interesting alternative tuning.

@@BluesTinWhistle I am still not anywhere near as cool as you, but I joined this collab last week . 9secs in that’s me in the sparkles in the middle. It was fun!! But I miss your videos. ..kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJTEpIGoZdGbo5I

This is great! Discovered Othar Turner then looked up cane fifes (which I couldn't find to buy!) then found this so got my tin whistle out. I actually find it easier to go the other way with middle finger - so draw it away from hole rather than push forward... does anyone do this?!
@BluesTinWhistle Жыл бұрын
I don't know much Othar Turner and have struggled to find good recordings of him. Can you recommend any? On the topic of drawing the middle finger, yes that works just as well, and recorder players almost always do that as it is more comfortable on the wider bore that recorders have (I think that's the reason) and I myself usually do that when playing recorder. Here's a video of Tobi Nuel sliding back rather than forward kzbin.info2sjj3GaIVgE

What is the ring below the windway of the fipple?
@BluesTinWhistle2 жыл бұрын
Hi there. It's a pewter thumb ring that happened to fit. I noticed it added weight (which I like for the feel) and I think it improves the tone too. I haven't been able to find another, otherwise I'd add one to all my whistles!

@@BluesTinWhistle I tried some ring decorations for whistle but, alas,they did not fit. And yes, the weighty feel of a thick brass whistle is nice.
