Is it possible to use the projector as a seperate display instead on screen mirroring on Mac?

Our laptop is extended. On our laptop I think there’s a button on the laptop that lets you change that feature. I think there’s maybe 4 different settings. 1. Mirrored 2. Extended 3. Screen off comp but projector screen on 4. Screen off projector but screen on comp.

how do i adjust the individual screen sizes when connecting multiple screens i have a pretty far throw distance and at the original size i can barely see whats going on.
