This was absolutely Enjoyable! I got my H90 4 days ago, and I spent an hour or so this morning reading the pdf Manual, and about 4 hours just messing with it. I laughed out loud when you said at one point, "I don't know what I'm doing right now." because I said that a BUNCH of times. But I did learn a whole LOT about how it works by just messing with it, and your video added a whole LOT to what I had figured out earlier. Thank you for your spontaneity and helping me know that it's just gonna take some time and effort to really KNOW this most amazing Pedal I've ever owned! Have a Blessed day, and Congratulations on your getting married. (I hope she's OK with you spending the day with me. haha)

Awesome walkthrough! I want to put my amp in one loop, using the four cable method, and then a preamp pedal in another loop, so then I can toggle back-and-forth between whether I want to use the front of the amp, or just the return with the preamp pedal and bypass the preamp. I do that right now in my GT 1000 core, but I’m thinking of replacing that with the H 90 if you can do the same thing.

You did your best explaining an overcomplicated interface. The issue is that Eventide sends their pedals to professional users who understand parameter settings, MIDI, recording, etc, when what they really need to do is get their hardware in the hands of regular consumers. Reminds me of the episode of Silicon Valley (HBO series) where the software developers sent the BETA version of their app to engineers for their feedback. Of course they loved it because they are ENGINEERS. Once they released the software to the public and regular consumers got their hands on it, they were completely confused. I love Eventide, but they need to reconsider their user interface and testing strategy. They really could be the Apple of the effects industry if they just put more thought into their user experience for regular, non-engineer users.
@familiarfaces_official Жыл бұрын
In a sense tho I’m so so sooo happy they allow it to be advanced for people willing to push the boundaries of effects. Maybe they could have advanced mode on and off as a solution then
@gregs6424 Жыл бұрын
@@familiarfaces_official I think people often mistake advanced features to mean that a product is complicated. User interface design and advanced features are completely separate. Apple accomplished doing both a super intuitive interface and an advanced product when they created the iPhone for example. You can have both advanced features and a user friendly interface if you get feedback from actual consumer-minded testers. Not engineers or pro recording technicians
@downstrokes Жыл бұрын
It's not their intent to create the H90 for the layperson. We have TC for that. There is no efx unit in a pedal which is more advanced than this and if its too simple to make a "user friendly unit with advanced features" then please be our guest. Eventide are the masters in advanced efx and I highly doubt they cater mainly to us normal consumers, that's not the intent of this unit.
@evenstephen20008 ай бұрын
It’s not for everyone…just those who decide they wanna put in the work. Are we so lazy these days that if it’s not automatically “easy peasy” navigation, we just give up?? You miss out on good things that way…
@gregs64248 ай бұрын
@@evenstephen2000 I wouldn't say it's laziness. But I would say that if you could make a better, more intuitive user experience, why not? H90 is still my all-time favorite pedal either way.

Congratulations to you and Mrs HP42 on your nuptials! Quick question on routing: I’m running two amps dual mono (‘TPS wet/dry’) where I split the signal after my drives, with the wet line going into a Halo and then the H90. I’m getting significant latency on the delays (e.g. it’s a no-no for Edge-style parts). I assume this is due to the lack of analog dry-through (I don’t get noticeable latency from the Halo). I know you can do wet/dry routing inside the H90, and this does fix the latency issue. But it also means - as far as I can tell - that you lose the dry amp any time you disengage the H90 (i.e. there is literally no dry signal coming out of the amp unless you have an H90 program in use). Appreciate any guidance on workarounds, if there is one. Thanks as always foe the deep dive in this video.
@EytschPi42 Жыл бұрын
I think you could do a parallel loop and simple connect the out to the in and that would give you a dry parallel path. If the H90 is off you would get the dry signal through and the H90 won't do anything... so that should work fine.

1. are u able to change amp channel with this ? (my marshall has midi) 2. if i want to also use a strymon timeline and the h90 does the strymon have to be in one of the 2 inputs of the h90 u said ? 3. can i assign the 3 footswitches of the h90 for example: footswitch 1: program 1 of the h90(2 algorithms) + preset no32 of the strymon timeline + marshall amp channel 2 + external overdrive boss pedal on. (meaning in general... would i need a boss es5 looper pedal to change all that or is it possible with just the h90 ? 3 footswitches, 3 custom presets then change bank and got another 3 and so on...

Hello again Henning. I am still a bit confused about the H90 regarding making a new patch with the many choices of effects etc. Can I make a patch and call it 100 or do I have to use one of the existing 1 to 99 patches and overwrite it? Also , say I just wanted to use a looper by itself or use a combination of two loopers how do I choose A looper B Looper or any other effect. Thank you in advance. Sorry if you may have already explained this in the video but I am old and slow 😉 as I want to find shortcuts any way I can so I can really make this unit give me the results I am looking for.

This is an amazing pedal but the only downside is the learning curve to operate for many players out there. Ironically, what makes it so awesome 😎 also scares many players away from it (especially us old timers) because it’s to computerized and to many digital banks to figure out to even operate it.

Wish you two success beating the odds. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnS3pqGnq5aLqpY Not only very informative, also very enjoyable. 49:19 Seems should be a feature to see what items are assigned to which function, rather than have to dig and read every item. This would have allowed you to see the volume was also assigned to the foot pedal. Mind blowing all the settings. If remember how to calculate permutations (briefly touched on back in High School, ages ago) there are 3.844 possible combinations, not counting the adjustments that can be made to the 62 algorithms.
