Hi Frank! Not sure if this is new or not, but I was able to copy and paste an image from the internet. You can't click paste in the whiteboard, you need to use ctrl + V. So find image on internet, copy image, then come to the whiteboard and click crtl+V to insert.

Hey! Is the inking smoother on this version? I've noticed on the older versions, it seems to be grainy and very unsatisfying, despite using an active pen. I see that the inking on the new version is smoother from your video. Did you notice this yourself, or did you never pay any detail to the older versions' grainy inking? Thanks for the review!

GOOD NEWS! Microsoft is definitelty listening to the feedback on the new Whiteboard and how we need access to some of the old features - they are providing a ROLL-BACK option. This was just tweeted out "We're pausing rollout & moving back anyone already upgraded as we address feedback. New features remain available in Teams, web and mobile." by the Whiteboard Head of Product. We have to respect that decision - as it does demonstrate a commitment to us Whiteboard users and foreshadows a commitment to ensure the product retains the usefulness and functionality those of us using the Whiteboard want. Staty tuned as this plays out and we see the results!

In the previous version, I could use the snipping tool to crop a portion of PDF/PPT and paste on the Whiteboard easily. But not with the new version. Could you help ?

That is a feature that is removed 🙁 We just have to hope they return all these missing features.

@@LearningandTechnology There is a way I have found to add one Powerpoint slide quickly to the new Whiteboard. I think it is much faster than using the documents tab. (step 1) you have to use the print screen button while you have the slide open in slide show mode. (step 2) Hit the ESC key to get out of slide show mode. ( step 3) Go to the image tab in Whiteboard. (step 4) find the image in the One Drive folder and paste it to the Whiteboard. This can be done in seconds and is almost as convenient as the copy past function of the previous versions. I would love to get your thoughts on this. BTW If you open a PDF and zoom in on the section you want to be displayed on Whiteboard, the Print screen function is almost as convenient as taking a snapshot.

With this new version I'm not able to transmit it via OBS anymore. That problem came after the new update. Just don't know how to solve it

Much of your video was what you can't do, Lol. Highly sophisticated things, like formatting text, or pasting from a different app, or moving some notes around. You know, things every app known to man currently do by default. The fact that copy/paste was completely missing when this new app launched was the real kicker. I received a call while watching this. It was from 1990. They want their whiteboard back. 🙄

Haha - yes - I’m not terribly happy with the new Whiteboard. Check out my other videos - Microsoft actually contacted me on the things I wasn’t happy with and they have responded to some of them (like Copy/Paste) It’s a challenge - because the integration of Whiteboard across products is a benefit, but the functionality is not as robust as I would like. So it’s something I hope they evolve so we get both an integrated and a full featured whiteboard.

@@LearningandTechnology oh no...I used it extensively during remote teaching and found it to be very useful not just for drawing lines but to use it to show measurements.... I found it on powerpoint and enabled it (Laptop) but having a hard time enabling it on my desktop...it's greyed out. Thank you so much for your prompt response!

One annoying feature that doesnt exist and one of the most basic is the organisation of boards into their order folders, or abilities to set tags on the. If you have 100s of boards or you have boards you don't want others to really see on home screen you have no options to organise these at all. It also makes it difficult to find all boards without scrolling up and down.

@@paulapereira1363 it has! I just released a new video 2 days ago. I actually released two videos - one on the new features and one that’s a complete new tutorial. At the start of the new tutorial video - I cover the Documents feature. It requires that you set a feature to allow external content. Take a quick look and let me know if that explains it. Basically, if you’re not seeing it now then you need to involve your IT Department

It’s gone. You can hold the shift key while inking for a straight line - but you can measure angles and such like before

@@LearningandTechnology However if we draw a line & hold the pen for a second at last point of line ( don't lift up the pen), it becomes straight automatically & its direction can also be changed.

Top tip: Open MS Whiteboard. Mess around with it for 30 mins. Get frustrated. Bin it. Get Miro.

There are a few alternatives - Miro, HeyHi, Pencil and more. I have videos on some of them here. The key is to find the one that has the features you need (and also has the price you are Willing to pay). I have a video on a bunch of them.

I’ve been using it to teach hundreds of hours of remote training. It’s actually an excellent product in my opinion. I’m not sure how often you’ve used it, but it might be that you just need some training. Watch the video and practice - you too can learn to use it well.

@@LearningandTechnology sorry, but it may be that you just need to use other whiteboard style products! MS Whiteboard really does suck but unfortunately, having just moved companies, I am being forced to use it. And it's painful.
