On the surface it seems like a valuable addition, though in reality it serves no real purpose. The front AI is stupid, and will constantly shuffle forces in and out for no apparent reason leaving you very vulnerable to encirclement's, forcing you to micro everything - which is better to do anyways. Also, seems designed more for immersion than an actual improvement on gameplay mechanics - just masking the fact that I can still assign every division to a single army command and wipe out the SU in 6 months. Why use spearhead and plan something when I single army can do it all with no plan other than one large arrow pointed to Moscow. 15 bucks is reasonable for an expansion, but this was all superficial fluff that doesn't do anything to address the serious issues with the base game.

Yeah it always shuffles to try to stabilize your front I hate that. My troops can be about ready to cut off a port in RAJ with enemy troops moving toward it and then suddenly the ai will move my troops toward some wayward end of India! 😅

Would like 2 things covered, how to break forts and air battle. Is there a template or bomber that breaks 10 level forts best? When "going around" isn't possible. Also planes, I see the effect of fighters, but never seen to notice CAS... and always feel my strat bombers arnt doing much even as the US. And read plane squadron size doesn't matter now. So are 1000 stack of fighters just as efficient as 5 200 stacks? Does this also apply to CAS? Or are 120 CAS stacks still the best? Oh and how does CAS work? Just bombs equipment at random? Like maybe a rifle, or truck? Does it prioritize tanks? Even worth bothering with vs non armor? Is there a way to check enemy equipment losses from just airpower? Also Naval bombers, how best to use? Toss over water and forget? Do you select the sea zone or the land for port strike?Thanks in advance, sorry for 20 questions or any bluntness, on mobile.

There is so much detail in this game I sometimes forget about it all. I usually just try to encircle anywhere I can and forget about the terrain penalties!

The spearhead only makes a wery narrow path of attack and leaves your troops wery unprotected from the enemy flanking. Not "OP" at all in my opinion, but still a great feature and in my personal experience really usefull the have a small force of fast moving troops pushing deep in to enemy territory while your main army advances slowly but with a lot larger attack. Usefull for example taking out nations with low national unity and just spearheading their capital when they capitualte and boom no losses on manpower equipment nor time. Just some personal experience of a relativly experienced Hoi IV player. I hope it helps!

This is actually why I not only create formations that push through, but also back them up with infantry/motorized divisions that are there to serve as defences of the newly acquired territory. I don't use front lines though, but fallback lines instead - this way the AI won't constantly reshuffle all divisions after the front line increases by 1 province.

If you use the Blitzkrieg research and hit them with light tanks from a gap in the line and they’re France you can punish them by taking their victory points before their AI even manages to do anything but it’s risky as they could cut off your supplies if you’re too slow

Thanks, this is a great feature I hadn't noticed with the expansion. I could have used it in a recent war to end it quicker. Has anyone used this tactic with troops sent as volunteers to AI countries? I would love to use my volunteers to knife in and surround and crush a few enemy troops here and there to help tilt a war one way or another. I could send 8 divisions to China right now, who has been in a slug fest war with Japan for a couple years, each has lost a half a million people in the war. It would be great to tilt it against Japan a little. This is the third of your videos I have watched btw, and have gotten some great pointers for HOI4. Subscribe button depressed. Thanks! :)

Only 4-8 divisions would be in combat and all the others would sit in reserve due to max combat width. Its possible but it would take months to break though

if you are not in war with allies, and dont want to be in (french formed little entente, or changed to french commune etc), and you want to avoid war deccing on belgium, you can ask for military acces through italy. you cant attack from neutral territory, but you can land some paradrops on the border forts. while you preparing war, french gathers all it has on maginot, so there will be nothing. then you need some tanks and mechanised waiting on italien border, which fastly march till the rhone river. perfect defending position. french will take away a lot from maginot. then you can also attack there.

Na you could do a 'spearhead style' attack before together for victory. By doing a normal attack and pausing the game and manually making a spearhead. Its really isn't that special
