Super great detail. This video really describes and gives a good visual to the process. Thank you!

very well presented 👍🏼,little tip take it or leave it ,I find that most queens will start laying on first day after nicot box is placed in hive for priming few days before queen introduction
@buttsbeesllc40633 жыл бұрын
Yes, but not this queen😌 I left the box in for a day, it may have needed more! I always 'prime' my cups, bars and Nicot. Great advice!

Yeah I was told to spray some sugar syrup on it as well as leaving it in for a couple of days

very interesting! can you reuse the cups after building the new queens and especially the ones you did not choose? I recently got a kit but no clues how to use it, so this video is very much appreciated indeed... one more question the kit I ordered is a chinese one, I wasn't aware of the differences between different versions ...., I noticed the cups are quite lose on the cell bar blocks and cups, can I put the cell upwards on the builder? Thank you again
@buttsbeesllc40637 ай бұрын
I reuse the cups, minor cleaning- no chemicals..... The cell hanging down tells the bees this is to be a queen. Upward will not work. You can try using wax to fit the cup tighter, or propolis for a sticky fit . I wish you great luck 🍀🍀

Why would the workers add royal jelly if there’s a good laying queen present?
@buttsbeesllc4063 Жыл бұрын
You want well fed larvae. If resources/food is abundant then the workers will feed more royal jelly to the larvae. More royal jelly means better fed larvae to make into queens! Even with a mated Q present they will feed larvae well.

Around 1 minute in you said some queens will lay eggs in the nicot board in 1 day, but some may take up to 4 days. I was wondering if you think this is related to the queens age, such as when young queens can be more nervous, etc?
@buttsbeesllc40633 жыл бұрын
Some have suggested it can be due to the nicot cage being cleaned long enough by the bees, but I think it can be be anything. Age, flow, the queen(sure, age or disposition) If I knew I'd write a book!☺ As long as you don't forget about her, you have a chance that she will lay! Thanks Noah, great question.

Hey if you do write a book let me know. I definitely would be interested. Its pretty fun to see what's in bee books.

It is about lavraes ages near nicots. Better put nicot far from agg-5 day lavrae

Small tip. You can do without the screwdriver or knife for removing the cups. You just use the cup holder to lift out the cup Then attach the holder back onto the frame.
@thebeewrangler Жыл бұрын
When the frame holding the cups with selected eggs go into the brood box, does the queen also go back into the same box? If this is the case then would the colony still be inclined to make queen cells?

I’m curious why you chose not to use the eggs on the lower bar?

I let bees polish for 5 days then put queen in and it's been another 5 days and she still hasn't layed anything
@buttsbeesllc4063 Жыл бұрын
You could try feeding the Colony or just try another queen. Grafting by hand is not as hard as you think, maybe go that way 🍀

a lot of content missing, where was the queen put after she was taken out of the Nicot cage?? where were the cups with the larvae placed? what are you calling the right age larvae? a lot of time wasted watching someone put the cups on the bar when the cup holders are made to pick up the cups, no knife needed.
