I keep my routine super simple these days. My cleanser is the Ordinary Glycolipid Cream Cleanser, my moisturizer is the Ordinary moisturizing factors + beta glucan, which I really only use during the day and I tend to reapply at lunch. I also the caffeine 5% + egcg during the day, which I also tend to reapply mid day. At night on Sun/Tues/Thurs, I use the Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion with no moisturizer on top. For me personally, the emulsion is plenty hydrating. All other nights I use the CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream. No toners and no other serums. Take this how you will, but I’m 46 and I get told I look younger than 35 all the time. Obviously, your mileage may vary. I work from home, so reapplying moisturizer and the caffeine during the day is fairly easy for me. I only see sunlight in the evening when I go jogging or walking. Obviously diet is important as well. I work out 4x/week, and eat almost no sugar or carbs. It’s all a vicious circle otherwise. Love your content, Melissa, you are clearly knowledgeable and your videos are thorough. With your help, and the advice of others, I've landed on this routine, which thus far seems to be amazing for my skin. Thank you!

Yes, the simpler you keep your routine, the better! :) I'm glad to hear that your skin is doing great and that you enjoy my videos. Diet plays a huge role in our health and how the skin looks-this is what I’ve mainly learned over the past 7+ months while doing the experiment myself ( www.youtube.com/@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet/community ). As for exercising, yes, it’s great for clearing your head, building muscles, etc., but it won’t make a significant difference in how your skin looks (like acne, rashes, wrinkles, etc.) because those issues mainly come from within, or from weight loss-that’s at least what I’ve figured out. It all comes down to what you eat. I used to go for a one-hour walk early in the mornings for many years to stay fit, lose weight, and clear my head. However, I’ve never managed to lose as much weight as I have by just changing my diet. Ever since I started the experiment, I haven’t done much exercising or walking-I’ve become more like an experimental rat, trying to exclude as many influencing factors as possible, because I really just want to focus on my diet. I don’t count calories either, but I do have specific eating times and a set sleep schedule. I will, however, soon create new content, and I want to get back to my morning walks! :)

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I love how thorough you are. I’ve been on a mostly meat diet, eating about 80% meat and eggs, and being really picky about the quality I purchase. I take a 3-pill multivitamin, a probiotic, omegas and collagen daily. For workouts I’m on 2 different kinds of protein, but both whole food based, aminos, creatine, HMB, Leucine and a preworkout. If I stay on the regiment, I’m able to see excellent results. Luckily I work from home Monday thru Friday, but on Fridays and Saturday, I’m a singer and it’s very easy to eat poorly when driving out to gigs or have patrons buy you shots or what have you. I’m on a personal quest as well, so I applaud the work you’re putting in, as I know how difficult it can be to stay focused!
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDietАй бұрын
@@slikjmuzik Yes, me too-or let’s say that’s where I’ve ended up as well! I do have my moments of sadness when I think about how much meat I eat, but I don’t tolerate other things well...and fish isn’t really an option because most are contaminated with heavy metals or haven't been fed their natural diet. Unless you have enough money to pay for good quality fish or live next to the sea where you can get it fresh, you can eat it without any doubts. I haven’t had much luck with supplements, so I'm now really just focusing on fresh food itself. However, if you tolerate them well and they work for you, keep using them! Yes, it’s difficult when you don’t know what’s in your food or what has been done to it-it’s basically guessing. I’ve tried that just recently again while ordering fast food and pizza from places I don’t know, nor have any insight into what the food contains, like no ingredient list-and sure enough, I got breakouts again. It’s sad and fascinating at the same time.

Hello Melissa! Thank you for the information you’re sharing with us! Tell me please, can I combine this moisturiser with Vitamin C suspension? In your video about this suspension you’ve mentioned to use moisturiser with HA. But I can’t find this one in South Africa where I live, only with Beta Glucan. Thank you in advance!

Thank you so much Melissa, you make it so clear. It's always a puzzle for me what the order of the products should be. How is the moisturizer with Beta-Glucan from TO? I am currently using the moisturizer with ceramides and trehalose. It's pretty cold in Poland right now and my dry skin gets even drier so this moisturizer works for me, but with warmer weather I am going to get something lighter, that's why this moisturizer you are using got me interested :)
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet10 ай бұрын
Hey! 😊 I really like this moisturizer a lot! It's such a lightweight gel that absorbs easily into the skin. How does your skin behave when it gets warmer? If it becomes more combination or normal, I would definitely recommend getting it. However, if you prefer something that sits more on the skin surface, I would choose a different one like their NMF + HA.
@onlyscience2810 ай бұрын
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet When it's warm it just becomes normal. Which I don't mind TBH. Dryness on the other hand drives me crazy, even very rich moisturizer kind of sinks in afer 2 hours. I started using occlusives on top of my moisturizer just to keep the moisture in. Something like cold cream eg. Avene is helpful. Can't wait for the Spring, when one layer of moisturizer and a sunscreen will do. My daughter in law keeps telling me how lucky I am to have no blemishes at all. That's true, my skin is clear, but believe me, dryness and constant tightness is no fun either

@@onlyscience28 So, essentially, does it just happen during the winter months? Also, is it very cold in the rooms at your home, or are you generally exposed a lot to the environment? 🤔 Regarding the blemishes, yes, it's something that baffles both me and my husband. While he also gets the occasional blemish on his face, mostly due to irritation from shaving, he generally has no blemishes at all. In contrast, I do get them even though we eat and mostly do the same things. I often think it's mostly genetics, and the same goes for dry skin conditions and other issues, but it could also be damages that have occurred during our lifetime. But now I'm a bit confused. Did you change your profile picture and name again? Last time you mentioned doing so, even though you had a blue checkmark, which isn't there anymore. At the time of writing my reply, I thought you were someone else from Poland, so if you felt confused, know that I was, and still am, a bit confused too, haha.

Anyway, your dog is attractive. He/She must have a great skincare routine, hehe. 😝

Hi Melissa My face sweats a lot because I walk one and a half kilometers to school in the morning Does the moisturizer go away? The reason I ask is because I reapply sunscreen in the afternoon so wouldn't going without moisturizer affect my skin? Should I reapply moisturizer in the afternoon?
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet10 ай бұрын
Hey! 😊 Please remind me of your skin type and the other skincare products and moisturizer you're using. Do you feel the need to use a moisturizer before applying your sunscreen? If not, you can skip it or consider using a hydrating serum instead. Simply cleanse your face, pat it dry, and maybe apply a hydrating serum before your sunscreen. This way, your skincare routine will be lighter, and you can easily reapply sunscreen throughout the day. When you return home from school, you can wash your face and apply moisturizer if necessary. Essentially, consider using most of your skincare products in the evening or later at night, depending on your preference. 😊
@Fattypanda1348210 ай бұрын
When I go to school in the morning, I leave with skin care. Go to school at eight o'clock in the morning. To return by 6 pm. And skin care starts around 11 pm because I go to bed by 11 pm. So does keeping sunscreen on your face for that long, even after its hour has passed, affect your skin? Which do you prefer for me night skin care or evening skin care?
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet10 ай бұрын
Take a look at the other reply! 😊 You can wash your face once you return from school. After that, you can leave it as it is (if you are not spending prolonged time in the sun) and then proceed with your actual skincare routine later at night, just before going to bed. 😊
