You should have mentioned " DON'T BUY TICKETS FROM PEOPLE OFFERING YOU HELP " There are lots of crooks looking for tourists, who offer help and then sell you used tickets at a "discounted price " in a metro station. Only buy tickets from machines.

This was perfect. I'm nervous about being solo in Paris and if it's really different from the metro here in DC but this made me feel like I'll be just fine.

Don't be nervous, it's simple and if you're lost do not hesitate to ask us, we (Parisians) will be happy to help you but do not worry it is easy enough to understand.

This has some nice info but is out of date. Paper tickets are being phased out and another youtuber says they are no longer usable at some stops.

What about a Navigo card? Can I buy it from a machine or just from a clerk? Is Google maps the best app to use or are there better ones? We leave for Paris October 11.
@AmericanTravelFamily Жыл бұрын
Enjoy your trip. Yes, google maps works the best. Not too familiar with the Navigo card, but if you will be in Paris for more than a week, it might be the way to go. I think you can buy them at the Metro stations as well.

Be sure to keep your metro ticket in a safe place in case the RATP control agents ask to see your valid ticket. If you can’t produce it, you will be fined on the spot.

Good info! Please consider using your inside voice. Parisian’s are sensitive to Americans “loudness”. I’ve been to Paris 7x and coming again next month for 30 day stay. I do have some insight and experience on this,❤ but you do you!
@AmericanTravelFamily Жыл бұрын
Always good advice. We try not to be the loud Americans and would much rather blend in as much as we can when we travel.

Nothing on zones. Need to explain all is zone 1. If need multiple zones, good luck. Even typing city, no choices given for zone 2. Have to buy expensive mobilis or visiti. I went to counter, told attendant, so should be exact, right? I still had to crawl under turnstile to get out. No more!

Just came back from Paris. I'm a lifelong New Yorker and their metro is way easier to navigate than the NYC subway. Two things that would be good for others to know: 1. Get a Navigo Decouvette instead if you plan to use the RER. It is so easy to use and it pays for itself quite quickly. 2. Pay attention to the exit numbers to get out of station with the closest exit. My family and I spent our 1st day figuring that out and we never had to walk any extra steps when taking the metro or RER back to our hotel as we knew exactly which exit to head out of.
@AmericanTravelFamily10 ай бұрын
Great info, yes the exit can be confusing! Once you figure it out, it saves a lot time! Glad you had a great trip!

They're phasing out those paper tickets. You should tell people to buy the nav card instead. Plus you're misleading by saying those paper tickets get you to all lines and RER. You will get a FINE. You have to purchase the correct fare to go beyond out of the arrondissements especially going to Disney.

Should I be worried about safety if I take a backpack? Thieves deter me from so many cities :(

Good video, I am pretty much terrified of NYC subway and avoid it as much as I can, never went by myself. Not because its not safe, only because I'm guranteed to get lost, lol. You made it look fairly effortless and I'm grateful !

Great video. Very simple instructions. Im heading to Paris next month for the first time ,and while i'm used to the Tube in London it's nice to know how to use the underground in a different country. Thanks for the information ❤
