A really handy tool, and I always give some for xmas as gifts and stocking stuffers.

You are correct. This video doesn't show the fire starting, but we have since posted videos that do show a fire being started with this product. Yes, we will sell replacement fire rods, but we haven't got them up on the website yet. Should have them on the site sometime next month. Thanks for commenting.

Wonderful product, I get sparks galore. The compass lines up well, knives and other blades receive sharp edges! Tell me how to replace the batteries, though! I don't see how??!

I carry one of these with me it works well on pocket knives under 3.5 inches, the serration sharpening rod does a good job. the flashlight comes in handy the ferro rod will make a fire iv tested it a few times. fire prep is always the key with something like this. the whistle well.... Lets hope you never need it because most people can yell louder. Iv had this product 2 years and have uses it weekly these arnt opinions they are facts. I have never got a razor edge with this but it passes the rope test, Iv sharpened knives to gut trout with this' its serviceable and affordable , Maybe embed the compass into the plastic and improve the whistle on the next run and this will go from a good product to a great product.

Just picked one of these up and it's a damn useful tool especially for under 20 bucks. Carry one of these and a strong knife and you have what you need.

Is it safe to store in a backpack when not in use after sharpening a knife?

3:05 what kind of a dogs whistle is that? :(
@oxycrimson8 жыл бұрын
I've used one of these for years and it works great. would've been nice if you actually got a fire started. I have serious doubts about dragging a serrated blade across the ceramics.
@SmithsEdge8 жыл бұрын
+oxycrimson Thanks for the comments. There are videos of this tool starting a fire on our KZbin channel, so I can assure you that the fire starter works great. In addition, I can also assure you that using the triangular-shaped ceramic stones to sharpen your serrations also works, but if you have a method for sharpening serrations that you are comfortable with then by all means don't change. Keep doing what works well for you. Thanks again for leaving a reply and Merry Christmas. Good luck and KEEP IT SHARP!

We've recently posted two videos to our channel showing the X2 Fire starter starting a fire. Check them out and see how quickly you can start a fire with the fire starter in the Pocket Pal X2.

would this work well for sharpening a MTECH USA MT-122BK Fixed Blade Knife and the MTECH USA XTREME Mx-8054 Tactical Fixed Blade Knife?
@matthewm41072 жыл бұрын
@David Chatterton because some products like this are garbage for bigger knives and can actually do more damage to the blade rather than sharpening them. If its good for that specific sized knife it would do well with similar sized knives rather than having to do a longer sharpening on a stone or grinder while on the go.

Would you recommend this tool for sharpening a folding saw, like the Bahco Laplander?
@SmithsEdge8 жыл бұрын
+879doogie No, I would not recommend it for this saw. This product is designed for sharpening rounded serrations with teeth, not triangular saw tooth serrations like on the Bahco Laplander. Plus, it would take you forever to sharpen each saw tooth with the smaller size diamond rod on the Smith's Pocket Pal X2. Good luck and Keep it Sharp!

Would this damage the black coating on my blade?
@SmithsEdge7 жыл бұрын
This product only sharpens at the cutting edge when used properly. Therefore, it will not damage any coating on your blade.
