Hey my boys! I just wanted to clear something up since I didn’t really mention it in the video. This is meant to simply showcase “How To” run the Option in CFB for those that don’t know how. I’m going to make a part 2 that breaks down advanced methods to making reads, when to audible if needed, fake pitches, etc but this is mainly for newer players because I was getting this question from newer people. I hope EA come out with a patch to fix the option back to old button format smh holding X to make the QB keep it is really driving me nuts. Was literally no need in switching that smh

A little info to help y’all in the flexbone If the defense shows a 4-4 box run over If the defense has its force players on the line of scrimmage run tight or close If the defense runs 3-3 stack run Te sets or tackle over If the defense is in a bear front or TNT run toss If the defense has a 2i,3, 4i run mid or mid triple to that side If the defense has a 1 shade and 5 run triple If user is controlling read player run dive If user is shifting defense to motion or user MLB run counter If user is using Saftey or running cover 1 run PA or pass

I can't believe more playbooks don't have a triple option. It's my favorite play in the game. Apparently nobody runs a nice triple option out of the I-Formation these days. Smh this is how I find out I'm old now

I agree! Not a lot of triple option in other formations. Why can’t they have the same options in the I formations and Wishbone? Why only one Wishbone formation? They basically have a trillion shotgun formations with very little variations like trips right but the same formation with a receiver off or on the line. Why can’t they just in corporate that into playbook as the same formation? I actually love they would allow you to move plays in to different formations that you prefer or even better let us create our own formations and plays. I personally would love to run some Wing T or the Houston Veer.

Navy is fun to use. Just beat some dudes online that were playing with Bama and Oregon 😂 the only thing I’m still getting used to is the change they made to hand the ball off. I really hope NCAA adds an option to change it. Feel like they just did that to be different than Madden.

“I’m going to hold the ball.” Why aren’t you making option reads live the way you are supposed to? The defense teams choices are supposed to drive what you do in option plays.

Because the video’s purpose was to show “how to run it” I’m going to make a part 2 that shows the ins and outs of reading the defenses and how to actually fool the opponent and even fake pitches and such. Sorry I should’ve explained it a bit better in the video. It’s more for people just playing CFB for the first time. 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻

On the Triple option you can tap the x button and tap it again and the QB will keep the ball, this only seems to work on the triple options

Yeah I definitely have to redo this video! I’ve learned much more about these options since then. I kept getting questions about how to actually pitch like which buttons to use so I dropped this just to showcase the buttons to press but it goes so much more in depth. Hopefully they add the option to switch back to holding the button to hand it off because until then option plays are out the window. It makes zero sense to my brain the other way around

True I’m going to update this further and actually go over proper reads and techniques I just wanted to get this out there as a way to show everyone the basics to running it effectively within their scheme, but you’re right reading the defensive alignment and knowing your opponent is crucial! I really really hope this gets released to PC. I haven't been excited for a Madden in a long long time, but college football release finally has me excited for a football game again.

As unfortunate as this is gonna sound I can nearly guarantee this won’t be on PC 😢 it’s a tough loss for a huge contingent but according to my EA rep, NIL deals are restricting a lot of the player customization that EA hoped to include in the game. If the PC community got their hands on this title you know we’d have a customization field day that’s what we do we’re creative like that 😅 but yeah man at least for the foreseeable future it looks like this title will be console only unless a deal is made allowing likeness editing to be done for existing players. That being said it’s an amazing game so far and the addition of Team Builder this Friday is going to be a chance for those of us that like customization to really shine. Also, once I grow a bit more I’ll have access to console giveaways so stick around for that my bro! Much love man 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻

Sometimes I notice my WR has 2 routes to run one is darker then the other how do I choose which one of those routes I want him to run

So if he’s got two and one is dim that means it’s an option route so the receiver will have the option to take one of those two(or more) route patterns based on how the defender is playing him. Hopefully this helps I do believe this is what you’re asking about 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻

I understand it looks that way but this video isn’t meant to show you how to read defenses and I state that specifically. This is just to show someone new to the game HOW TO LEARN CONTROLS for an option play. I appreciate the feedback but if you pay attention I even said I’ll make a separate video on reads and adjustments for the option. I’m stating what I’m gonna do to show you if you don’t hold X it’ll hand the ball off so naturally I’m calling out my decision. If you’re not a beginner this one isn’t for you fair enough. Still I respect your opinion

I hope they fix the FB Toss play. Your FB always cuts into the line without player input. Otherwise the offense is deadly.

Is there a controller setting where you can change the option controls? So pressing the button would make the qb handoff like in Madden?

Hey Larry! I just jumped into the game to check that out for you. I went all through the game controls in the settings menu in-game and in the main menu and as of now it seems like there’s no way to adjust the controls for how an option play behaves, but I’ve been told that there will be some changes and improvements coming this Friday July 19th that will address some of the limitations players are noticing in the early release. I can’t say I’m terribly optimistic that custom controls will be one of those changes, but I’ll keep an eye out nonetheless and hope that we get that functionality at some point! 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻

@@CodenameSteev I appreciate you taking a look. I went to my friends house today who already has the game and I found out that apparently you can’t use custom playbooks online or edit uniforms in h2h matches. I’ll be getting the game on Friday and I hope EA Addresses this.

Fake pitch works well against user players and if you use this playbook with a really good team I use it on bama a lot online it’s unstoppable

It’s simple look at the icon of the full back and you push that button to hand it off. Has nothing to do with pushing X.

The only thing that work for me is pressing X (or A on Xbox) to ensure the QB keeps possession otherwise he will automatically hand it to the HB on a triple option. Now a standard option where it’s just the QB and one HB yes you just hike the ball and either pitch or don’t, with nothing extra involved. 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻

Step 1: PLAY INSIDE OUT. Before anything else, plug the A-Gaps. Option sets (like the Flexbone or Wing-T) are designed to control T.O.P, bleed you 3 yards at a time, then gash you with big plays on the outside. Constant “3rd & 1s” are gonna make you rage quit. Step 2: NUMBERS. Option blocking schemes always leave 1 man (usually the play-side DE) unblocked. You need at least 7 or 8 in the box. Run a 4-4, or walk down a Safety for run support. Only use zone defenses for longer yardage situations or more traditional formations. Step 3: USER CONTROL. If your opponent runs the option, chances are, you’ll see the same play about 20x before halftime. Ideally, everyone wants to get the pitch man into the open space outside the tackles. User control your OLB or Safety to maintain outside leverage & fill running lanes. Step 4: MAN COVERAGE. You need a “Hat-On-A-Hat.” Man blitz schemes help define key responsibilities for each player. Good news is, teams that run the Triple Option usually have weak-armed QBs, a leaky OL, or unskilled WRs. (If those positions were solid, they wouldn’t run that offense to begin with!!!) Cover 1 (or other man blitzes) with a single-high Safety should work. Hopefully your CBs don’t suck.
