Thanks for the great video on this device. I'm considering purchasing this for my KZbin videos. My only suggestion would be to see how it works with mics plugged into the jacks on the bottom. Barring that, it was a great run down on the device, and the little things that waste time when you setting up and getting going with recording audio. All the best, Cheers Rick

Thanks for the great video, very straight forward and to the point. Much appreciated. Question- do you know why the two external inputs record to just one wav file? Since you can use two and set the rec levels individually, I'm just curious why you wouldn't get two wav files for those, and then the one wav file for the onboard mics- give a total of 3 wav files to mix. If you know... thanks!

On 3:50 is referring to the jack as a HP OUT and LINE IN, Maybe i didn't get him right, and he is saying that you can monitor the line input through that? All do you can monitor all the inputs (line/mic/ext), and the EXT MIC is not meant to be used with a line level single, you can add a attenuator to do that, and turning off the ext power supply output.

When you're recording music, lets say a 12 song band set. When you press stop to stop recording the first song, does it make itself ready to record the next track separately or start again at the end of the first track like one continuous track. Or once you upload the music to your computer, and you can finalize the track onto a cd ?? Thanks for your help & your video !

@fun_ghoul3 жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter what you use to record, within reason. The main limitation isn't _your_ equipment, but that of your audience. Like, you can never replicate what you hear live for someone using the earbuds that came with their Samsuck phone. The main thing is that your voice should be clear and audible, and the built-in mics will be more than sufficient for that. I presume you've already figured this out given the vintage of your comment, but in case anyone else was wondering...yeah.

"Thumbs up" on the video, but how can you call this a "full review" without showing how the XLR inputs work and how to work with them? For example, what XLR cables do you get; XLR to XLR Male, XLR to XLR Female? Should you get an XLR splitter if you want to use both channels (L&R) to record from, say, a Sennheiser shotgun mic? This would be very helpful info to have. I'm about an hour from purchasing (stupid B&H Saturday holiday BS) and I thought this vid might help with my decision on which accessories I should get with the H4N Pro setup I'm getting. I think I'm getting the right stuff, but maybe I'll end up with "Houston, we have a problem!"?

Just curious, how do you connect and use with a camera or sync audio?
@Epicureanusa4 жыл бұрын
You should be able to run a 1/8-inch stereo cord from the Headphone/Line output directly into your camera. You'll be recording both to the camera and to the recorder, so you'll have backup audio if needed. Since both the video and recorder will have the same recordings, you can use the auto-sync functionality found in most video editors now. If you want to manually sync audio and video, have your on-camera person clap or snap fingers. You'll be able to find the peak in the audio waveform where the clap/snap is. You'll manually move the audio or video track to that peak is right under the video frame where the snap/clap happens.
@MarcoDM15715 жыл бұрын
Nice video!!! well explained and the device is surprisingly simple. Question: Does it support SDXC? No upper size limit like some unnerving device that makes you regret listening to the megalomaniac in you when you purchased that 256GB one? Maybe you could do a part 2, where you move the file to a computer and show an easy way to sync it to a video, so to help newbies that want to do video productions for the first time. Thanks!

Not to be rude and contradict you, but this thing eats batteries like crazy. I've probably spent over $150 on batters over the past year, so I should invest in a power supply. I don't know how much recording you do but I record my band rehearsals and my drumming practice and I can never be without a spare set of AA batteries. After one 2 hour session with my band it's almost empty. Recording all that noise must really use a lot of juice!
@fun_ghoul3 жыл бұрын
I hesitate to recommend this to other people, but I personally took the risk of hooking up a fully charged (so, 4.2V) lithium-ion battery to the + and - terminals in the battery compartment. Other than the fact that the battery meter is basically useless (li-ion doesn't sag, so "dead" comes suddenly), it works perfectly. I resorted to this because, like you, I found this thing killed AAs quick! Alternatively, you could probably get an external power pack meant for a cell phone, and buy or bodge a cord from USB to the barrel connector on the bottom (the stock Zoom power supply is 5V output).
