Hi from Finland. 220 V is very very rare today in Europe. Usually the voltage is 230-240 V. But it does’t matter so much. When using those travel adapters, please be careful not to touch the pins as they are not safety insulated. But otherwise fine information. Hint: Hang some curtains or blankets to the walls to minimaze the echo. It makes you more pro.

You have shoddy adapters. Types I and G are supposed to have insulated pins and I don't see a replaceable fuse anywhere on that type G.

Nate Watson I’ve used these adapters many times over the past several years with no issues. If you have suggestion for a better adapter please feel free to leave a link in the comments for people to compare.

Hi! Have you actually used the dual voltage flat iron in the UK to see if it still will short it out or if it works good? i might have missed it if you mentioned it sorry
@AllyArcher6 жыл бұрын
My flat iron's voltage is has a range of 120-240 Volts and it has worked everywhere I've used it in that range! I went to the UK years ago and had a different flat iron but it was fine. I've used the flat iron in the video with the same UK adapter in Hong Kong and Singapore and it worked :) (HK and Singapore use the same plug shape as the UK) hope that helps!

yes. We are going to Ireland in October so i will get a UK adapter and with a dual voltage iron, so i feel kinda confident i won't blow it up or short out the hotel ! lol thank you!

Good Day!! I know this video has been out for a few years but, I need to know if my curling iron will work in India. I know they have 220 volt but still don't know if the same curling iron that I used in China will work in India. When plugging my hair curler in while in China, it did not get hot enough to work. It at least took the frizz out of my hair but no curl. Any advice??

Hair curler from India (230V 50Hz, Type D plug) works in China (220V 50Hz, US/ Euro 4.8mm universal 2 pin outlet and 3 Pin Australian outlet). Also buy Europlug / US to Europlug adapter for that.

It looks like Italy requires a different kind of adapter with three legs, is that true?
@AllyArcher7 жыл бұрын
Manuel Penaloza Italy’s power socket is either two or three round holes - The adapters I use for Italy have the two round legs

Modern equipment comes in two types: class I or grounded and class II or double insulated. A grounded plug has three contacts: live, neutral and ground. Ground is connected to the case. It is so that if the equipment fails the current flows to the ground possibly tipping the circuit breaker and not through the user. Class II equipment is designed so that the case cannot become hot. There is double insulation. This typically means that the case is plastic. They do not need grounding so the plug typically has just two legs. Britain is an exception as there the third leg is needed to open the socket. Most equipment one carries while traveling is class II. Laptop chargers (in some cases) are almost the only exception. They, however, are typically plastic so the grounding is really unnecessary. The actual laptop runs on low voltage. However, as a general rule you should not break the ground as that can cause danger. If you only have ungrounded sockets you can use grounded equipment without grounding. This is not ideal but acceptable. You may not bring the ground with an extension cord from the kitchen. There also used to be class 0 i.e. not protected. These should not be used on any room that has grounded outlets. Preferably they should not be used at all.
