I'm three years late to the party here, but felt like I should pop in and say thanks for making this video. I've never understood how zapper and picker were different; now I know, thanks to your video explainer. If you have time, it would be great to show any differences in UI for this add-on in the android/iOS versions of Chrome and Firefox! I can never figure out how to turn off zapper mode after I've made a selection.

After learning how to do it on UBlock Origins I went to see how to do it on AdBlock Plus, much simpler, but still couldn't have figured that out without the help of this tutorial. Thanks again!

Great tutorial. Wondering if, in the Advanced video, you could mention uMatrix as well and how these two Extensions overlap, whether & how to use them together (I’m assuming that if you do, you would only use 3rd party block lists on one of the extensions & leave it off on the other?).

Hi @McDirt, for a quick answer I'm comparing the filtering lists from uMatrix and uBlock Origin and it seems those overlap big time. I wouldn't use both at the same time, privacy Badger with uBlock seems to be working great, plus incorporating duckduckgo extension/search engine seems to really work well. But I think you want to know which is better umatrix, ublock or NoScript. I'm going to compare all three and let you know asap.

@@WhiteArmour Yes indeed, the overlap of uBO & uM is an issue. Nobody (reddit & youtube creators) seems to have a clear answer on how to use both simultaneously in a browser.

@@WhiteArmour Thanks for the reply, I'm actually loving Brave (thanks) on my PC & Mac (not so much on IOS which is built on Safari) also running Firefox with extensions as a comparison. I've also not been able to find much info on using uB (as Technobot puts it) and uM, I does look like they overlap so it's confusing. uM won't block ads (I don't think but uB does). Thanks again.

Hey, thanks for the tutorial! It is much better without the annoying ads. But I have one question: What antivirus should I use? I now have Avira Free Antivirus, Adwcleaner and Ashampoo WinOptimizer. What should I keep and what should I delete? Or do you have other recommendations that are free? Have a nice day!

Hi SuperFireBall: I personally use Malwarebytes for manual scanning, UBlock, Privacy Badger, and Forticlient Antivirus and Vulnerability Scanner. I created a video on it. I need to do an updated video but look at my video and you will see where to get it. I think it's better than Avira. The others you mentioned could be deleted if you use Forticlient. Also having Malwarebytes as a manual scanner for once a week scans keeps things safe.

Hi, I watched the whole video hoping you'd comment on the right-click selections on the uBlock Origin icon. I use Chrome and Edge. Right-click provides options such as "This can read and change site data" 1) when you click the extension 2) on specific sites 3) on all sites. I can't believe this wasn't covered in this basic video. It's hard to find much good explanation for that in Google searches :(

Would this work on a phone and can you confirm its functional up to date and still owes to its promises, I remember being on the fence with adblock+ and then the thing happened where it would allow some ads if they paid, just need clarity is all

I will have to investigate but my initial suspicion is no. Check out the Brave browser, it works just as good if not better in my opinion. I created a video on it as well.

Many thanks. I'm using Ublock but the element picker doesn't have a shortcut tab. If I right click with the cursor on the element I get the option I so it's not a problem. The web site I'm visiting knows I'm using an ad blocker or script blocker and the popup says I must disable the blocker in order to continue. If I use the picker to block the element it works on that page only. It doesn't help on the other pages of the site. I have to reblock on every page. Any solution to this?

I just used Element Picker to delete an image but when I go to Filter Lists it is not there. Now I see the filter. Apparently it takes a few minutes to show up?

Hi I have come across something that Ublock is not able to block. I am getting the old 'You are using an Add Blocker' pop up which I cant seem to get around. Any one have any ideas on what to do? Im using the advanced mode.

Hi Leo: Yeah sometimes this happens to me as well. I usually either allow the domain or try using uMatrix or NoScript to see if it can be blocked and still allow the page to function. Sometimes the website owner just won't allow things to run if you're blocking their ads.
