Great video. Water will cut down on the sharpness of the opening. Like you said, less is better. Just like salt, a little is perfect but too much will ruin your food

In the 18th century high-proof alcohol was extremely expensive because it required four or more distillations. As a result, perfumes were generally made with alcohol that had quite a lot of water in it. I have even heard that the original Eau de Cologne-types were sometimes drunk, although even if you're only dousing your hands and face in it, the water would have made these fragrances less harsh and drying to the skin. I'm guessing after shaves still need a fair bit of water for this reason.

It definitely lessens the harsh drying effect of Ethanol. There's no doubt, It's had a longstanding place in the industry. Water is certainly an interesting topic.

All major large houses use massive amounts of water. Sometimes up to 40%. And this is coming from a friend who is a master Perfumer who formulates for a perfume company. The water allows the molecules to bounce off the skin instead of keeping the scent close to the skin.

I've experimented with various amounts but so far I find that the more I use the less I like the perfume. 40% is a lot. I've went as high as 20% out of curiosity and not liked the results.

Thank you for this formulation..I am trying to make a perfume smelling similar to abercrombie and Fitch fierce but failing miserably could you make a vedio on that.

Would the addition reduce the flammability also? That would be important for transportation purposes.
