What about changing wax sticks? How wasteful is it? Just pull out the stick, put the new one in and pump until the remaining old stick stops coming out?
@katrinacrouch5 жыл бұрын
There are a few options: I personally have a glue gun for each major color family that I work with so that it doesn’t mix much or look strange when it does. But I use a lot of wax seals in my job! Lol Option 2: use a normal glue stick (much cheaper) to push out the old color. Your first few stamps of the new color will probably have some glue residue, but it will be less noticeable as it is “clear” Option 3: push the new color of wax through until it comes “clean”.

I guess I can’t add an image to the comments to show you, but I’m not getting a clear stamp. Not sure how to describe it, but it looks like swirls - not color swirls but impression swirls. Pressing too hard? Not hard enough? Something else? Swirls in a pattern kind of like if you dropped a pebble into the pond, the ripples that go outward.

Hi Ray! I’ve been answering your questions-don’t forget to check back to see my answers, hah! I’m sure you could use resin. I have never tried it and have limited experience with resin in general, but from what I do know I would advise that you wait and allow the resin to set a little before pouring and stamping. Otherwise you might not form the “lip” around the seal very well. And it might take longer to cool than traditional wax

If you are making a lot of wax seals how do you keep your wax stamp clean in between uses?
@katrinacrouch2 жыл бұрын
If you are using good quality wax, you should not need to clean off the stamp between uses. It shouldn’t be oily or have any residue on it. If you DO have that problem, you can carefully reheat the stamp by holding it close to a flame and then CAREFULLY blot it with a paper towel. That should remove any access ☺️

I can usually get 6-8, depending on the size of the stamp (I usually work with a 1 inch stamp) and how messy you like your stamps to be. But don’t forget: You will need to have another stick to push the last of the wax through! So always calculate an extra stick in when you are purchasing ☺️

Try waiting a moment before you place your stamp down on the wax. For those tiny details, I have found that sometimes it helps if you let the wax cool a touch more so that it doesn't "melt out" of those fine lines. Also, be sure to wipe off your stamp really well before you place it if you are chilling the stamp on ice!

@katrinacrouch2 жыл бұрын
I always use a regular sized glue gun and generally prefer one with a temperature setting so I can choose how warm it gets. I don’t like to go above 120*C (250*F) But check the size of your wax and get a gun that fits. While a larger glue gun will probably work for your smaller wax diameter, I would recommend finding a size that fits a little more snug

I'm wondering if the wax will not go through the envelope onto what's inside? I know normal candle wax can be little bit greasy. Is the seal wax different ?
@katrinacrouch5 жыл бұрын
Good question! The wax that I use from Artisaire is of a very different nature than candle wax, which is designed to basically dissolve! This wax has a flexible hold, doesn’t transfer colors onto paper and doesn’t bleed like candle or crayon wax would. Your concern is valid! I have not had trouble with these yet, but I DO recommend paying the extra $0.15 to have them hand sorted at your post office instead of fed through the machine. Otherwise, use an outer envelope to protect them. Another precaution: I find that hand poured wax seals (like the style in the demo) are pretty secure, but self adhesive wax seals are less reliable unless you splurge for the professional grade adhesive. Hi Catherine!! Glad to hear you love wax seals too! If you use this method and place the hot wax directly on the envelope, your wax seal should be just fine when going through the mail (Artisaire wax... I can’t speak for all brands!). But most post offices will make you pay a little extra for postage (not a ton) so keep that in mind. It’s a non-machinable/hand sort stamp, but I can’t remember how much it is off the top of my head. I usually just use an inner and outer envelope and place the stamp on the inner envelope to avoid this. But that is a little bit out of laziness and because I have a good collection of outer size envelopes due to my job, hah! If you make the stamps on wax paper or marble before placing them on the envelope, then I do recommend the professional grade adhesive. But if you use the glue gun, you shouldn’t need to use it-I rarely do myself ☺️

As wax? Not if you want to send it through the mail. Melting and molding it won’t change the nature of the pastel or wax, and it will crumble and mark everything around it. Crayons break as well. It’s not unusual for a single shot to require several takes due to focus or other complications. Especially for my first ever KZbin video, shot on my iPhone 6 😉 give the poor girl a break-she was nervous! Hah Different pouring techniques will achieve different results. I personally prefer the close-to-the-paper technique because you avoid ripples in the color and finish of your wax but many prefer the high-pour (especially Instagram-and I’m assuming TikTok-viewers) because it is more dramatic.
