Just installed my thermostat easy to wire and easy to program. I did have a little problem figuring out how to use the manual settings instead of talking to Alexa I talk to their techs and they were excellent at explaining what I needed to do. I think I’m going to love this stat. And if you have a problem go right to their tech page they are very very good.

Just put one of these in yesterday following your instructions. Now I am trying to figure out how to work it. I though I had it all set up and had it set for the temps I want at night and during the day. For some odd reason the fan just kept running and never shut off while it was on auto but for a few hrs the temp was correct. I noticed after about 7 hrs that it was getting warm in here so I went to look and the temp was 75 in the house with it still heating. I am guessing I messed up a setting somewhere so I am looking for how to do it correctly.

Can the control panel be locked or set to a range that people can only adjust within? We are looking to put one in a gym and want to run it on a schedule but also allow people that come in to overrride the schedule for a short time if needed before it reverts back to the program.

That usually indicates an internet issue. The device can't connect to your wifi. Make sure your wifi and internet are working. Pull the thermostat off the wall and then push back on the wall to see if a reboot will reconnect it. If it still doesn't work, I would factory reset it and go through the setup again with the app.

Yes, you can definitely do that. There is a setting called auto that allows you to set a low range and a high range and it will automatically turn on the heat or A/C as needed to keep it within that range.

Your two videos about this thermostat are some of the best that I've seen. I do have a couple questions. Is this thermostat programmable? Right now I'm using a ritetemp brand from Home Depot. I am able to set it to 68 degrees at 5 a.m. then down to 62° at 8 a.m. back up to 68° at 5 p.m. then back down to 62 degrees at 10 p.m. can this thermostat do something like that. Also if I change the temperature within a time slot does it revert back to the program at the next start of the time slot

Thank you for watching. I am not using any type of scheduling with mine. In the Alexa app it has options for daily schedules but I found it to be somewhat complicated and since I really had no desire to even use those features I haven’t spent much time with it. From what I can see, it has each day listed and then times to set heat/cool and desired temperature. It also has a feature called “hunches” where Alexa will learn your routine and set the temperature automatically when it has a “hunch” that you’ve gone to sleep or you’re away. I personally would rather be in control so I won’t be using those features. Wish I could help you more but I haven’t really tried the scheduling yet.. and what I saw I really didn’t like. It wasn’t very straightforward at all.

I don't have a yellow wire and on the furnace it uses a jumper to connect green and yellow. Will that be a problem for this thermostat? When you set up the thermostat, it asks for the wires connected, and since I don't have a yellow wire, do I just skip the yellow wire and will this work?
@lookwhatifoundmedia
@lookwhatifoundmedia 2 жыл бұрын
It’s not about the color of the wire. It’s about the letter designation of the wire. Match up the letters, not the colors. Whatever letters your old thermostat has is how you need to match it to the new one. Obviously remember which color goes to each letter but colors won’t be the same for everyone. My C wire might be brown and yours might be blue. Hope this helps.

No, I haven't purchased one for upstairs yet. But if I did, I don't see why it wouldn't just show up in the app as a secondary device that I could control independently from the downstairs thermostat. At least that's how I see it working. 2 thermostats showing up as 2 devices in the app, controlled separately. I'll post a new video if I do add another one.

I saw in your previous video about having a “R” wire & “RH” jumper wire, but only used the single “R” wire. I have a slightly different configuration on my thermostat, it has the “R” wire with a jumper wire to “RC” slot. So my question is have you had any problems with only using the “R” solely? Moreover, does both the heating and cooling systems work fine?
@lookwhatifoundmedia
@lookwhatifoundmedia 3 жыл бұрын
I have not had any issues whatsoever with only using the R wire and removing the jumper. I have gas heat. However, someone I know installed this and had issues with their heat pump. Amazon support said to move the W wire to O/B which fixed their issue so your problem may be similar. The person at Amazon said they had been to training classes for these new thermostats and they seemed very knowledgeable. You may not know what to do without contacting them. We certainly didn’t know on a heat pump system the W wire needed moved to O/B. Let me know what you figure out. Thanks for watching!
@SerenoOunce
@SerenoOunce 6 ай бұрын
Multiple 'R' terminals is for OLD system configurations where an AC had it's own transformer and would need to keep the circuits isolated. Rh = Heat power; Rc = Cooling. Smart t-stats won't require a jumper since wiring config is done in the setup process and handled by the internal electronics. The jumper is made redundant.

WHY DONT YOU LIKE THE AUTO MODE AND WHAT DOES THE EXCLAMATION POINT ICON MEAN
@lookwhatifoundmedia
@lookwhatifoundmedia 2 жыл бұрын
The ! means there are notifications, although I’ve never been able to find those in the app. I don’t like auto mode because my heat blows really hot and if I have it on air condition but then the temperature drops below what I have set, then the heat is going to come on to bring it back up to my desired range and honestly, I would rather it just be a little bit too cold in my home, then for the heat to come on to correct it. Same goes if maybe it gets a little too warm and goes past my desired temperature, I really don’t want the air conditioner coming on to bring it back down. I’d rather the system just cut off and not be bouncing back-and-forth between heat and air to regulate the temperature. Hope that makes sense.

Factory reset the thermostat, go through the set up again. Check in the setting which heat mode you have. Sounds like you have a heat pump and need it set up as a heat pump, not forced air. There is a setting that reverses the heat/cool valve. If I remember correctly switch it to cool. I had this same issue and was baffled. It’s a very obscure setting and was defiantly left out of the set up tutorial from Amazon. After 3 calls to customer service thy figured it out.

Terrible thermostat. Technology just for the sake of "modern" is a pain. Way more complicated than it needs to be, just to say " hey, look, I'm new tech". Buy a thermostat from Lowe's that you can just walk up to and set.

This thermostat is so trash. It doesnt even has a real screen...no indoor temp which is important ...no motion sensor...no wonder it's dirt cheap. Stick with the Google Nest Thermostat...it has way more features on the unit itself.
