Hi, thank you... I aim to have a free e-book on Amazon. When people click on my lead magnet opt in, should I then send them a link to the Amazon book (where I assume they'll have to go through the checkout process, even if free), or rather send them a PDF? I assume that the PDF is much more straightforward, as they get instant access, however sending them to Amazon would improve numbers (though, some wouldn't bother to go through the checkout I assume). Or, perhaps there's other options? What's best for the author and the audience?

Great question, Natalia! We strongly recommend that you send them the PDF in exchange for their email address. If they really like the book PDF, they will end up buying it. The problem with sending them directly to Amazon is that you’re not collecting their email address, and therefore they may never hear from you again. The bounce rate on that page will likely be fairly high as well. If you want to build a list of potential customers that you can contact for years to come AND boost book sales, then give them the PDF.

@@ScribeBookSchool ok cool thank you. Do i think theyd still buy an e book on amazon , or rather a hard copy?

Depends on how good your book is, but yes. If they want it formatted for Kindle, sure. This is like providing a bookstore experience where you can flip through the pages before purchase. You are ultimately focusing on the wrong thing, which is book sales. Selling copies is arguably the WORST way to make money with nonfiction. Watch our video called “How to make money with a book,” focus on those opportunities instead, and don’t worry about losing sales (which you won’t) by giving away your book.
