You are very informative on how to use the buttons! You are correct in that the booklet that comes with it can be confusing, or rather does not go into the detail that you do for proper use of this collar. Thank you!

Great video. I might have missed what level to start off with? Is it 4? I have a 4 month old Aussie that will take off and not come back. I want to start at the lowest level but not too low.
@leadthewayk9training2 жыл бұрын
To answer your question: That's going to depend on the individual dog. You need to find your dog's "working level" aka the lowest level of perception. I would highly encourage you to find a local professional to help you with ecollar training or if there isn't an experienced trainer in your area who is well-versed in proper ecollar conditioning and training, I'd recommend purchasing Larry Krohn's book and reading it before starting any ecollar work with your dog. www.amazon.com/Everything-need-about-Collar-Training/dp/1521126550/ref=asc_df_1521126550/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241995309321&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2091290010245363159&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9008843&hvtargid=pla-547402577447&psc=1 However, 4 months is a bit younger than we like to start dogs on ecollar training. We like to wait to 5 months. For now I would recommend keeping your pup on a leash or long line and practicing the basics of recall then adding in the ecollar when he's a bit more mature. You have to teach him what the ecollar means and not just use it as the "no, don't do that" button.

@leadthewayk9training Жыл бұрын
That's going to depend on the individual dog and interestingly enough it doesn't have anything to do with the size of the dog. Some large dogs are very sensitive and some small dogs are very insensitive and vice versa. You need to find your dog's "working level" aka the lowest level of perception. I would highly encourage you to find a local professional trainer to help you with ecollar training or if there isn't an experienced trainer in your area who is well-versed in proper ecollar conditioning and training, I'd recommend purchasing Larry Krohn's book and reading it before starting any ecollar work with your dog. amzn.to/40OQIKU

Great video! Does the stimulation level knob lock to help avoid accidental higher level stimualtion?
@leadthewayk9training3 жыл бұрын
This Dogtra ecollar does not offer a lock for the stim level. But I personally never use the lock on my ecollars that do have that feature. You are going to want the ability to fine tune up and down with the level when training. Ecollar Tecnhologies ecollars (ecollar.com) offer a locking dial if you need the feature.

I bought mine about 10 or 11years ago, it hasn't been used in about 8 years sitting in a drawer. Attempted charging it up last night, the remote turns on fine, the collar turns on. Both flash green. When I press pager the collar turns off. Do I need to have the internal battery replaced on my collar? Any ideas?
@leadthewayk9training Жыл бұрын
I'd guess the battery need to be replaced. You can order replacement batteries from Dogtra on their website. Otherwise you can call Dogtra and have them look at it but that requires you to mail it to them (in California) and wait for them to fix it/mail it back and it's definitely not still covered under warranty so no idea what the cost would be for them to look at it. But I'd just start by ordering a replacement battery off their website.

My collar stays red the whole time I charge it, it turns green when I turn it on but it only pages once and won’t do nothing until turning off and back on. And only works once. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?
@leadthewayk9training2 жыл бұрын
Check to make sure the charger is firmly pushed in, and also try using a different outlet. Then if it's been charging for longer than 3 hours and it's solid red still, I would guess either your charger is broken or the battery in your collar/remote needs to be replaced. If your ecollar is less than 2 years old, Dogtra should honor their warranty and will fix it or replace it. Call Dogtra customer support at 1-888-811-9111 or email them at info@dogtra.com. Good luck!

@@leadthewayk9training I have been watching alot of videos of Tom Davis using the 1900s and 280c, he says vibrate but yet says hit the nick button which sents a shocking sensation.
