Yes, I used it. I experienced a bit latency but it was so low that I could perform with no problem. Maybe if you search for different apps, you can lower the buffer size, because in this Beat Machine app the lowest setting is 256 for audio buffer size.

Thanks! You can't control the TM6 PRO with the Octapad, because the TM6PRO has only MIDI OUT. But you can build a cool setup if you have both devices.

You can connect it to your computer with a USB cable and play drum samples in your DAW. I use a drum rack in Ableton Live for example

Thank you for answering. I use Cakewalk Sonar. There's session dummer with a lot of drum sets in it. I use usb cable to connect and MIDI notes to assign pads on Spd 30 with set in session drummer. I even can load any instruments there. But I have problem with Hhat. I'd like it to open and close in session drummer set as it does in spd. Is it possible?

Hi man! I'm having trouble with SPD30 and Ableton. I'm trying to create a Drum Rack, but midi note numbers are completely messed up on my SPD30 (ex: C1 = 24 instead of 36, but E1 = 40, which is right!). Any idea how to solve it?? Thanks a lot man!

Even if they are not matching, you can just search for the right note number, you can see your drum rack blinking when you hit the Octapad and just adjust to the correct MIDI note. That's how I do it

I have a call into Roland awaiting their response, but currently I am wondering if the sp30 can respond to a berhinger fsb1010 midi switch board for assigning phrase loops. In the manual it states that in the sound generator mode, it will transmit and recognize on all 16 channels; yet in the phrase loop section of the midi implementation instructions it states it can transmit but not recognize. I would like to use the 0-127 for triggering sounds, so I’m good there I think, but when it says “transmit” and not “recognize” does that mean it won’t recognize the berhinger? Or something else like anDAW? Thanks for any insights.

Good info. I'm trying to play the sounds inside the SPD-30 with a MIDI Keyboard. Timpani, xylophone, chimes, etc.I can't get one sound to respond to the chromatic keyboard notes.

@@TheHybridDrummer I've decided it's a waste of time. The samples in the SPD-30 are not chromatic. There is only one or two samples of an instrument. Example: Timpani C or Timpani G. I could set up a patch on the SPD-30 of eight Timpani notes, BUT on the Impulse 25 the keys are randomly scattered all over! Sounds like a lot of work. To answer your question, I use USB to power the Impulse 25 from the SPD-30 and Impulse 25 MIDI OUT to SPD-30 MIDI IN.

Just connect to your computer wih a USB cable, install the driver (it automatically installs is you are online) and logic or any DAW will recognise the SPD30 as an audio device

Jeffrey Senske to use it with a laptop, you don't even need the camera adapter, only a USB cable. I think the latency can be reduced with a good sound card, where you can set the sample rate low

@@CaN-G0X you don’t neccessarily need an interface. Just plug the Octapad to the imac and it will transmit midi to your DAW. After that you can use any sounds on the pad and play. You’ll only need to get the audio of the song you are playing along to and mix it with your recorded drums.

I love your channel so much!! I currently use the yamaha EAD but don't like the trigger options much. Some of my friends trigger their kick and snare with an SPD SX. Do you have a preference of the SPD SX vs. Octopad? Also how do you use the TM6 Pro? I imagine having the direct outs and new onboard sounds is useful. Also any recommendations on where to get good samples would be awesome. I love the sounds of Superior Drummer 3 but would prefer to download and use one shot sounds on my hardware instead of cueing VSTs.

Hi! For the purposes that I need, I prefer the Octapad, because a lot of times I play with the Octapad expanded with a bass drum trigger and a hihat controller, so I kind of have a full V drum that way. Yes, I use TM6PRO's direct outputs for recordings, and import my own sounds to the module. And there are about 500 new onboard extra user samples for hybrid sounds, which are great. You can find many good samples for free on the web, just need to search for them. :)

Make sure GB midi and spd set to midi channel 10. You will most likely have to midi map the spd. I have only connected to GB on my iPhone with Bluetooth MIDI with td-17 module before, never have had a usb camera adapter to try hardwire usb connection. Just ordered one today , hopefully will have it next week to try this out with my strike multipad. Of my music friends I’m the only one who uses Ableton, they use reaper or GarageBand. With this adapter I can finally make compatible drum tracks. Now when they csend me their tracks, I can bring send it back with drums on their preferred format. Tried converting them to Ableton and no dice 🎲 they sticking with what they know!!!!

Hi! THe HPD-20 also has USB MIDI capability, so just connect it to your computer, and your DAW should identify the HPD-20 an you can send MIDI notes. For the detailed setting of the HPD-20, check out the Roland website!
