Hi the unit your showing at 8.39 is not a SPD it's a PFR (phase failure relay) it regulates high n low voltage. SPD they are different from what your showing. Also SPD comes in two types on is DC n the other is AC so u need to buy 2different one for pv side other for grid side.

Thanks for reaching out what I was showimg is a digital surge protector not a PFR the design might look the same but when its lighted up you will see the difference. Mybe I should have done a closer shot. Not sure you watched the video till the very end because I talked about DC surge and also AC surge. Maybe you need to watch again till the end. @@smilinsunsmilinsun8056 I never heard of digital spd. Normally spd come in one time use. If it goes bad you change its cartage. If u can put the link of the product which u bought I too can study the datasheet. I checked the Internet I couldn't find one. Not tring to put you in a spot. The community needs good info I am glad your tring to put the info out there bcz I am not a youtuber. I know its hard work to get one video out. I hv done my own solar projects I hv 2 solar tracking systems and I learned alot from the Internet too. Keep up the good work.

I agree with you. It appears that of the three units he showed in the video, only the second one (at about 11:25) might be a proper surge protection device. For some reasons, he appears to have a very loose definition/understanding of surge protection and surge protection devices.

Hello Ikenna, Here to get a DC breaker is a totally difficult task. Simply because they are not in the market. Currently am using an AC 100A breaker between Charge controller and Solar array and when the DC amperes Exceeds 30 A flows through it. It gets heat and produces some sparkling sound inside but doesn't Break the circuit. Is it safe to use it or i should remove it. Am using it as a switch. Kindly advice.

When you use AC circuit breaker for DC you decrease your energy generation and that can also cause fire in the installation because it will be heating up. DC circuit breaker is available in Nigeria

Thanks I'll bet you know that the presence of SPDs doesn't mean you're 100% safe from lightning. An additional lightning protection system with separate earth rod connections is advised.

Those are the standard Electrical wiring provisions done in the properties, this has nothing to do with the Solar Installer. If they need the Solar guy to do it then it is a different arrangement. Thank so much Buddy for your insightful comment.
