How to Use Your Zojirushi Water Boiler

When you set a timer before you go to bed for 6 hour will it shut off or stop heating? When the timer is up and it's been six hours will it reheat or turn on? Is this timer function automatically going to do these tasks everyday or will I need to get the timer every night before going to bed?

Tell me about the mysterious "Dechlorinate" over the model number, please. Is it a button? If so, is there an indicator somewhere that shows it's working, or a process, e.g. press/hold another button first? Is it just an indicator that the model does this automatically? I can't find anything in the manual or online about this, besides that Dechlorinate mode exists on some models, and it seems to do nothing on my boiler.

Hi there! The Dechlorination process occurs when the water reaches boiling point and the water boiler keeps it at that temperature for 4 to 5 minutes. After it will alert you once the water has reached the selected keep warm temperature. This process is not available while using the "Quick Temp" since the water will heat up to the selected keep warm temperature and not reach boiling point. We hope this helps!

Hi there! It will bring the water back up to boiling point and then the water boiler will lower the temperature to the selected keep warm temperature. Hope this helps!

Where is the on/off switch?

It doesn't have an off switch as such. It will keep your water hot as long as it is plugged it. However, in the event that it's empty or all the water has run out, then it will trigger the Auto Shut-Off feature that will turn off the water boiler's heater. Hope this helps!

The internal pot that holds the water in these water boilers are coated with something (teflon?), and it will chip off with use (opening and closing the top, repeated washes) and the metal beneath the coating will rust. Terrible design for a water holder to rust when touching water.

Hi there! We offer both water boilers with a nonstick coating and without. The materials are designed to be used with water, some of the mineral content in the water will accumulate on the surface of the inner container if not descaled. Iron is one of the minerals that exists in water and will look like rust on the surface when it accumulates. We recommend performing a citric acid cleaning at least once every three months to prevent minerals for excessively accumulating on the surface. With proper maintenance the water boiler will last for many years. We hope this helps!

Thank you for pointing this out! While some of our water boiler have an alert sound option that beeps they will also include a melody if that is not too disruptive for you.
