You don't need to add all citation information manually, if you just drag and drop a document into Zetero library, Zetero will automatically source all the citation information. Thats what makes it handy. You can also use zetero to read and work through all your literature by highlighting text passages or adding comments to the documents.

Fantastic. Zotero has made things much simpler allowing you to add identifiers like ISBN numbers etc and it automatically populates the reference fields. The browser plugin also makes it possible to add references from journal articles, blogs etc directly from the webpage

I found that the later version of Words has its own Zotero tab, it's between View and Help.

You may be able to export from one software to the other. That's not something we have experience with. I'd suggest having a look at the support website/material for each software.

Thanks for the tutorial. Please, I have issues with the zotero. Each time I use zotero in my libreoffice and closed the document, next time the document is opened. I will notice the content in bibliography becomes empty. Though the intex cited will be available. What am I doing wrong?

Please help. When I download PDFs directly into Zotero, the in-text citations are correctly formatted as author name plus year. However, when I use the Zotero Connector to capture PDFs, the in-text citations show the article title plus year. I would like to change this so that all citations are consistent in the author name plus year format in microsoft word. Could you please provide me with guidance on how to resolve this issue? Warning: if you use the Chicago Style, you'll be doing a lot of hand-editing ... i.e., you will have to write out your references manually after they are copied or pulled into something else. The citation formatting is rather erroneous and, if you use the automated population features, the ability to completely fill in the data fields is always incomplete even for extremely well-known and structured data sources like Wikipedia, Twitter, KZbin, etc. I have only used it with Chicago styling. Since Chicago is so prominent, I can't imagine the styling is any more accurate for any other style. It gives you a good starting place, but you still have to know how to properly cite your research.

All reference management software works on the same principle - you enter the details once and then it takes care of all instances within your document (or documents), ensuring that the formatting is correct and the reference list corresponds 100% with the in-text citations.
