This is great stuff man. You nailed me, got an old bike and now I want to rewire it. Well, got a basketcase and trying to wire it anyway. Its a 76 FXE thats had a flh dash spliced in so its been fun. Your videos are helping a lot. Just a suggestion, we pull string thru conduit using a vaccum to guide the string from one place to another. Never tried it on a bike but I'd put $ on it working good. 🍻

How are you getting the paper with light picture to draw on?
@bpeak822 жыл бұрын
I use Autocad to draw the wiring diagram. In CAD, there is a way to make the image lighter so it's easier to draw on. If you don't have CAD, you can use "pixlr editor". It's an online photoshop-ish editing program. You can use transparency/opacity to edit the image and make it lighter. If both of those sound like dead ends... I can do it for ya. Just email a good pic and I'll edit and return send ya a lighter version. :)

What gauge wire do you use from battery to ground?
@bpeak82 Жыл бұрын
I think this bike had a 6 ga ground wire since kick only, which is same as the old ironhead chopper wiring videos I did. For bigger bikes, higher compression, bigger electric starter loads, I'd play it safer and go up to a 4 ga ground wire. Or... match whatever thickness you have on the positive side going to the starter ;)

A cheap Power Probe will change you.

Was not aware of that tool... looks super good. Definitely gonna keep an eye out and grab one of those. Thanks!
