Thank you!!! Texan here, with two older brothers and my dad was military. Sadly, I never learned the basics. I can cook the meat but didn't know step one. I appreciate you more than I can say.

For beef in general, let it warm up a bit at room temperature. When you are done cooking it, let it rest for a few minutes before cutting or serving. Simple rule of thumb for steak can be rest for 1/3 - 1/2 of the cook time. Enjoy!

I've used a chimney for years. Definitely better than lighter fluid. Recently have switched to using tumbleweeds on lump coal to be able to skip the chimney. But, I mostly cook low n slow, so for hot n fast I'd stick w. Chimney.

I switched from haystack’s to the cubes and it’s cheaper when you do the math . Both work great 👍

Is this really enough charcoal for grilling?
@famontherun Жыл бұрын
Yes. Unless you are doing some longer roasting or smoking. In that case I would suggest something like a Slow N Sear. Also, the outside temperature will play a role if you are cooking longer.
@xJR0G15x Жыл бұрын
Just get tumbleweed pack it burns perfectly and get the charcoal ready in minutes. No more paper newspaper dilemma.

Hey will it still have airflow through the bottom if the ash catcher pot is attached?
@iNoYT Жыл бұрын
yes you can even leave it on the ground it just won't be as effective, but the grates in the grill should be plenty enough airflow
@famontherun Жыл бұрын
Yes. Ideally you want to start it on the main grate or lower charcoal grate.

So, no lighter fluid??

What happens if you need more charcoal than what it can hold?
@jeeprenegade19852 ай бұрын
The Weber chimney is bigger, or just buy a second chimney. I use paper towels with cooking oil on it. Put that under the charcoal that is stacked in a pyramid.

Why would you pour it all in the middle and not on one side?
@famontherun Жыл бұрын
It was for grilling not smoking or cooking for an extended period of time. Once I pour out the coals, I distribute them a bit. The middle will be obviously hotter.
@somnuswaltz55863 ай бұрын
Doesn't always have to be poured in a certain spot. The man obviously knows what's he's doing, stfu and let him distribute the coals how he wants.

Do you used lighter fluid? With it
@famontherun2 жыл бұрын
No I don’t. That’s the advantage of the vertical chimney starter and not having to add lighter fluid which may affect the taste of what you are grilling.

No, the paper goes in up from the bottom, there is a plate with holes in it to separate the charcoal from the paper, they are designed to work with coal on one side and the paper on the bottom side just like the video.

@famontherun Жыл бұрын
It depends. Try to find a chimney starter with some holes or slots in the middle. Allows more ventilation. You can also buy some Weber starter cubes which can speed up the process a bit.

@@SkyNetGeneral- I actually agree with you on every point. Especially food flavor. With charcoal it tastes way better. It's just it takes too much time and preparation. It is just this charcoal grill is either for permanent set up at home or if you go on the whole day outside.

Can you use poopy toilet paper?

That's the recommended one. But it has to be the neighbor's poopy toilet paper, it has a better taste and gives the meat a better sear. You welcome 🥂

@ARon82 Absolutely, its no different than putting a rectal thermometer in your mouth, adds a little more flavor if you will.
