I've been making a conscious effort to spend like 10-15 minutes during my sessions to try out new tricks, even if it's just throwing my board around a bit in switch/fake/nollie stances and see if anything stands out for me, keeps it interesting :) nice lesson, I'll give this a go. I should theoretically be able to get Nollie varial heels easier than regular because I have good Nollie FS shoves

Jonny you forgot to say the most important part (a lot of these tutorials don’t say this either), EVERY TRICK, is all about what you do with your shoulders/top half of you body. Couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t get this cause I got heels & front shuvs on lock, I wasn’t opening up my shoulders on this trick, was keeping them squared. As soon as I opened them up I start landing it

If you struggle with the heelflip rotation, like Jonny says, position your backfoot on the edge of the board and pop straight down rather than trying to scoop a front shuv. Don't worry so much about trying to make it shuv because if you flick out and straight forward with your front foot, the flick will assist in the shuvit rotation. That's just what works for me personally, the moment I try to front shuv the trick it wants to half flip. If you have pressure hardflips, the pop I'm referring to is similar, except you position your back foot further away from the wheel so it doesn't want to pressure flip and instead gets a solid pop. For me, it keeps the trick right underneath my feet and I don't have to lean back or jump back towards the board so much. Good luck dudes and mad tips Jonny, varial heels are hard! Learn them fakie if you can't get them regs because rolling fakie gives you momentum to keep the board right underneath your feet.
@Dave0Star2 жыл бұрын
So if I am struggling to pop these(which I am) move my back foot more towards the tip of the tail? But when I try this I struggle to get the shuv rotation?
@averageuser51962 жыл бұрын
@@Dave0Star I put my back foot right on the edge of the board in the heelside pocket. You can flick most of the varial heelflip with just your front foot, it can help with the shuv motion. I can't do them putting my foot closer in on the tail, this is just what works for me haha.
