How To Video, Using Spring Nuts for Unistrut

I watched his video and noticed his Spring nuts were up side down. So this video is for him. I hop this helps out.
This could also help others out that are wondering how the spring nuts go in to the unistrut.

Thanks! I got spring and cone nuts for a project I am doing and wondered the difference. The fact that you can twist the spring nuts in would allow you to put them in the middle of existing nuts. I personally find the cone nuts easier to use on the sides. The springs kept going through the holes on the back of my strut, but in theory the strut would be against a flat surface to prevent that. Thanks for the video, glad I watched this to understand being able to twist them in. I was just sliding them from the ends :)

Where would I put a lockwasher on a spring nut? Underneath, through the spring, and tightened on with a nut? Or just pop it on the bolt and tighten down?

Thank you for the video. Was doing it right, but the track they sold me is shallower than yours. Also, was trying to figure out what to do when a spring needs to be over hole... flattening a beer bottle cap in the vice seemed to hold it from popping thru. Just need to find end and mid clamps now.

Nice video and good information. I have a question about the clamps used to hold the solar panels to the unistrut. Where did you purchase the clamps used on the outside edge of the panel to unistrut as well as the clamps between the solar panels to hold the panels to the unistrut?

I used to use washer for the middle but as funds allowed I been upgrading to the mid clams. and end clamps

I really hate those spring nuts; they are such a pia because they are always going through the holes of the strut. The only thing they have going for them is that they may push up and lock onto the strut. If I had it to do over again though, I would have simply bought the nuts that clamp onto the bar without the springs.

can someone please share information about the dimensions of the spring nut. whats the groove/teeth dimensions? does the spring nut press only against the lip of the unistrut or also against the top flange of the unistrut?

Also you can look a round on eBay and you can get from metric, to SAE nuts and Different sizes depending on what you need them for. Some I ripped the spring off, because it made it easer to move them were I wanted them.

What are the clips called that you used to clamp solar panel down to the strut?

The ones on the ends are called end clamps, and the ones in the middle are mid clamps. There are so many variations of these clamps. Just need to look and see what type will fit your project.

are you talking about the ones holding down the solar panels if so, they were called end clamps for the ends of the solar panels and mid clamps for between the panels. If you are talking about the Rails they are mounted to those are called unistrut. the Clamps I got off eBay
