Kavutsky....hmmm....say isn't he the guy that invented the Double Fianchetto in the KID? I love that defense against the London!

Thanks Kostya!! I enjoy very much your very clear and structured explanations, some side notes here and there, but always transparent as to what the main points are. Great material, great videos, thanks a lot!!!

As an instructor with decades of experience I always keep a close eye on how other instructors (especially titled players) present material to their students. Your videos are exceptional in that you do a fabulous job of connecting the dots in easy to understand language. I frequently refer my students to your videos. In this one you might wish to revisit the Ruy Lopez example though. The more astute students might ask "what about Be3 after Qd4 with the idea of the d4 fork after the queen takes the knight?". Of course black is still easily winning, but it isn't an emphatic slam dunk win of a piece. Such flawed examples actually make good exercises for my students - I often point them to videos from strong titled players and ask them to spot any flaws. This helps to reinforce the "trust but verify" principle among others. Thanks for the great content, we look forward to more!

For the last example my intuition was Bxf2+ Kxf2, Qd5+ and then grabbing the knight. Of course this is not the best approach as beyond white getting an awkwardly placed king, material is still equal. I saw Bxf2 as a forcing move, but need to get better at seeing mate threats as another kind of forcing move. Loving these videos !!

Excellenr video! In the last example, after ...Qd4 (forking f2 and the knight) I think we should analyze further. After Be3 Qxe5, White has the fork d4, winning the piece back. But then Qxe4 dxc5 Qxg2 and Black is crushing.

In the last example after 1...Qd4 white can play 2. Be3 then 2...Qxe5, 3. d4 forks bishop and queen. If 3... Qxe4 then 4. dxc5 or if 3...Bxd4 then 4. Qxd4.

On that last puzzle, isn't Bxf2+ a move? Because after Kxf2, you can play Qd4+ and pick up the knight on the next move. Edit: Looked at it on lichess, Qd4 is actually twice as good as the line I suggested. Evaluated at -8, whereas the line I suggested is evaluated at -4. Aka it was the second best move.

The last one you can play be3 for white then queen takes night and then d4 a fork,so I think you should sacrifice the bishop instead then fork

Quick question: in the first example, wouldn't 1. Rxc8 be a good option because then the black rook is being attacked, and it would take the white rook on c8 and then you would take the black rook with the queen so you would be down one rook but up a rook and a bishop? I'm pretty new to chess (currently on this video in the beginner course on chessfactor) and I'm not sure if i'm missing anything. Thank you so much for the quality content!

after rxc8 rxc8 qxc8 both sides just have a queen and a rook although white has two extra pawns. So Rxc8 is winning, but is nonetheless a mistake since moves like Qc7+ or R8d6 are much more winning.
