Very interesting information...my son has lived abroad in Germany for about 3 yrs and he always votes by mail as well!

Great info! I'm still living in the USA (not able to move to Italy yet!) and I've always voted in person. You *can* take a sample ballot or notes into the voting booth with you. This is super helpful with propositions and down-ballot choices, like judges.
