How to wash Stokke Tripp Trapp straps (2020 or newer)

If you've been frustrated not knowing how to wash the Tripp Trapp straps (tongue twister much?), we cover how to remove and wash the straps for the 2020 or newer models.
The models from previous generations are washable but not as easily removable as the 2020 or newer models.

umm, I have one of these chairs, and you do not need to loosen the bolts of the chair to remove the plastic pieces. Also, The middle strap does come off. It is very difficult, but I use a small flat head screwdriver and help pry it off, then throw both sets of straps in the wash. I agree it is DIFFICULT

Thanks for the comment, do you mean you were able to pry off the white piece from the bucket seat?

@@redkulaT yep. It is meant to come apart, it's just not easy. There is a little clip, and you push in the "lip" (I don't know what to call it) and it pops off. You had the right idea, when you finally got the front piece off, there's the clip underneath. The plastic pieces just basically rest on the wood part of the chair. Obviously secured once in correctly

@@MrBizradley Thanks for the reply! I just took a look at the manual and it mentions on page 10 its not meant to be removed from the bucket seat/baby rail. Same - absolutely don't have to loosen the bolts to take those pieces off. And honestly, I find the straps are a pain to get out of the back of the seat, so I just fill a shallow bucket and let the straps sit in water (and if the seat parts get wet, that's fine). Easier to just not take them out.

@@CarolineLeeSmith yes, thank you. Agreed, they are a super pain to take off, it is achievable, but extremely difficult. But yes, seems a bit counterintuitive to have to loosen those bolts every go.

Note, you need to push the longer loop out the front side just enough to put the skewer or a small screw driver in the loop.

I hand wash the straps and hang it to dry with the plastic seat attachments still on it. I do it every other week so there isn’t much build up of dry food on it.

You can put the whole seat, with straps attached, in the dishwasher. Just make sure the straps won’t hit the sprayer and don’t use heated dry. Much faster/easier.

You do not need to loosen the screws at all to remove the baby set. I'm literally holding it in my hand right now. The assembly instructions don't show the screws needing to be untightened to attach it either. So again, you 100% do not need to loosen it first. Also, the back straps come off with some fidgeting. You push the little short nub end into the slot and it comes right out. The bottom strap comes off with a flat head screwdriver (it's difficult and watch your fingers!). Good effort but you might wanna make a new video.

Someone else below commented that you can remove the strap with a screwdriver but looking at the manual it mentions the bottom strap is not machine washable. @@redkulaT I used two flat tipped screw drivers, one under the white clip and one to push the clip in from the seat structure. This damaged the clip though

Haha! Yes it was an obscure object, anything thin but sturdy enough would help of it gets stuck like it did for me. Thin wooden dowels or end of a lollipop might work too.

It’s so stupid that the center strap is not removable. Wayy overpriced for what it is. *EDIT - so I’ve had this chair for almost a year now and it’s one of the BEST purchases we’ve made. Not overpriced at all and even though I still think the center strap issue is avoidable…I think the pros outweigh the cons. Highly recommend buying this for your little one. We will get another one once she’s here. 👍

@@theDanDeleon with some muscle. It is very difficult, assuming they made it difficult so a child can't do it. I had to use a flat head screw driver, but I got it off. If it's not fused with the other piece, or glued on, it comes apart. Just like removing the straps from the back piece. Bloody hell, that's difficult, but I use a forks prong to get it in the loop and pull it through the back. My gorilla fingers make it difficult as well. But after spaghetti, it needs a good cleaning, and I'd rather not put the plastic bit clunking around in the washing machine.

Just pop off the backrest and soak the whole thing in a deep sink with soapy water. Do not take out the straps! Way too much work
