Thanks for the tips! Doing some laundry today in my 21-day hotel quarantine in Hong Kong.

So glad this can be helpful, and I hope you have access to the things you need! As someone who did a 14-day travel quarantine last autumn at a UK airbnb, I am sending you all the good vibes! ✨🌏

Interesting parallels to how I wash my stuff in the sink (which I do with my lingerie), though I've never tried the "additional towel" for squeezing extra water out of my clothes. I appreciate that additional tip! In addition, try using hanger-hooks with clips off the end for drip-drying -- especially with undies -- (hanging your drippy items over a towel or some type of basin/bucket on the floor). I want to get some of those folding hangers, like you showed. I assume you'd reco using the iron + ironing board in your room to remove the wrinkles?

We will do laundry in the sink if necessary but have never done laundry on a trip other than that. Saw you on the LIVE today and trying to connect with other travel channels. I have just Subscribed to you.🐸

Oh man, you're lucky you haven't had to do laundry on the road yet! On our 3.5-week trip in South America in just carry-ons, it was AMAZING to be able to do laundry in machines at a true lavaderia (laundromat) in Bariloche! I always tell folks that they definitely need to leave an adequate amount of air-drying time at one destination if you do sink laundry! 😀

Can I use powder detergent.. I'm on 14 days quarantine hotel.
@MeansToTravel3 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure sorry, I think you’d have to read the label on the detergent container. I typically only use delicates detergent when doing sink washing and save regular detergent for machines. Good luck, I did 14 days of quarantine in an Airbnb in 2020 and my advice is to make sure you move your legs a lot!

You can ask some hotels to do it for you. If your tight. I've seen people ask before.
@MeansToTravel3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for adding this note. As a guest you can certainly ask, but I would not depend on it, especially on it being free. The vast majority of hotels have a rate card for how much a guest laundry service costs, and it is often on a cost per clothing article basis vs. cost per load like you find in a laundromat. A select amount of hotels might have coin-operated laundry machines, which would be listed in the amenities section of their websites that you can see before booking. If you are staying at a B&B or a Guesthouse in Europe, I've found it is slightly more customary to offer a free laundry service than here in the US - but definitely not always offered. In my experience, it's offered in more remote places and almost never in cities. I suppose the answer to this is "it all depends!" just like a lot of things with travel! 😀

Many good hotels have a gratis laundry room or service for the guests. I tried it once, and the housemaids gave me dirty looks! People stating in $200-per-night rooms don't get dirty or sweat in the summer? Mote;ls usually have a laundry room, but they usually sort of dirty, and sometimes flooded from the broken or leaking appliances.

It would be sooooo convenient if hotels let us do laundry in a machine!!! I think it's becoming more and more rare because they don't want to maintain them, and it's a risk that guests will misuse them. Such a bummer! But at least we can usually figure out how to do sink laundry like in this video. 🙏

Just a tip. Keep a wet wipes with you every where. It's very effective in removing stains the moment they happen.
