Here's an easy and inexpensive way to set up a handwashing station while at the campsite. It encourages kids to keep their hands clean, and it's easy for one person to operate! No wasted water. For more tips and tricks or to get some amazing outdoor gear, visit our website at www.missionsurvivor.com.

We did this back in the 70's in Girl Scouts. Only problem was the perpetual muddy/grassy puddle of water on the ground beneath the jug. After a while, no one wanted to use it because it meant standing in a gooey puddle and (potentially) tracking that mud throughout the rest of the campsite.

Awesome. Great idea. Maybe some fishing line to tie the golf tee to the bottle?

We use recycled clothes detergent bottles with the spigot and take several of them...just for this another one with a dish pan for dishes and one by the tent in a pan for feet! Just before bed!

use a plastic pest bottle with the pump they hold 1-2 gal. of water, people use kitchen sink spray nozzle replacement kits, and if you paint the bottle flat black and put in the sun it will warm the water up, I've seen them converted to showers, same thing except they are more versatile you can wash your hands, and body, cooking utensils plus use it again.

I'd add either a roll of paper towels to the cord before tying. Slip the cord they the tube and it's right above your water to dry off your hands. Or, add one of those kitchen towels with a loop that hangs on your oven door or knob in your kitchen. Thread the cord thru the loop and it'll hang right above the jug. I'd also put an inexpensive dish pan below to catch the excess water, they sell for $1@ the dollar tree.

Or one of the small Oxiclean tubs that could hang by the handle right beneath it.

This is an awesome idea! Now with the Covid19 virus taking hold...this hack may come in plenty handy when access to a running water/sink is not feasible. Thank you!!

Great solution and the idea with the soap is brilliant! I got similar one, it may seem a little bit more complicated than yours, nevertheless works like a charm, and is good for both home and outdoor use. If anything, It's posted on my channel. Best of luck!

Clever. I did wonder why you didn't just use a jug with a spigot or add one, but I get that if one is without such a container or a spigot (Not like many of us carry in our pockets) this is another way to get by. Now golf tees don't have many uses for survival or camping, but they're cheap and always going on sale. I don't like or play golf, but I see tees on sale at Academy Sports all the time. Interesting backgrounds and an enjoyable video.

instead of making a hole at the top of the carboy.... just open the lid and that will do. Further piercing a hole at the bottom can also be avoided if you take one with tap attached.

Interesting, I've used 2.5 gallon w a spigot that comes with. Popped a hole w a knife. But the water comes out much faster w my method, wasting much.

What do you do with the tee while washing? Needs a tie, maybe fishing line. I don’t like the water puddling or getting shoes wet...any solution besides standing leaning over? I always bring a spray bottle with plain water. Very handy for when your hands need a quite light rinse. Wipes are handy.

Ann Ban all wipes even so called biodegradeable, they clog up the sewer system and I find them everywhere on the trail with women using as pee rags and leaving them under bushes. And before I’m jumped on for being ‘sexist’, this is just a fact, I am a pro guide and see these things everywhere; beaches, dunes, Woods, grasslands even some public places. Men don’t need wipes for peeing. Just saying........ban them alltogether!

Soap does not degrade and leaves an obvious trace of your presence. This method is not that great except for car campers at a designated camp site.

You have to touch the tee again when your hands are clean, so, you’d have to use a napkin or something to put the tee back in to truly be clean.
