The 3D regular camera and the VR180 camera intercut. Yes it is pretty amazing. The technique we had use in our original Meta production as well. The 3D camera they are using is very very highend tho. Look amazing in quality.

Do either the Moon Player or the Reality Player have the A/B repeat feature? That's the feature that enables one to specify start and stop times for a desired clip portion of a video and repeat that clip portion over and over again. Thank you Hugh, this video was very helpful!

Temporary hurdle I believe. I don't think Moon figure out how to handle Vision Pro resource effectively. I notice lots of resource is sucking to playback and even VR180 60fps does work but when I screen capture what I see, it crash Xcode. Also no foveated rendering - this will really help to manage resource effective. M2 is great but we will drag up all the GPU for sure lol. 12K might be a dream for this one

Kind of amazed the Apple don't have a way to play these videos built in. I also hope this gets the lower end camera makers to make new VR 3D cameras again! It would also be pretty easy for them to shade your hands based on the scene (if they actually natively supported this playback)

How did you prove the what the video resolution of the Vision Pro is? Does Vision Pro really playblack 8K?

It is 4K per eye so 8K playback in total. But there is Foveated Rendering mode so it can play back higher 8K if that is enable (only Apple can right now)

Not Dolby Vision - but Vision Pro Apple TV original content is Dolby Vision. We have no idea how they do that as that info is not released yet.

I don't have a canon rf mount otherwise their lens might have been attractive for me. Your dog reminds me a lot of my dog, who is now 16, and I really want to get some spatial videos of her while she's still with us. Though she's not quite able to make the beach trips or Tahoe hikes anymore. Any thoughts on a good camera? Thanks!

Yes iPhone 15 Pro for now. Kandao EGO is the cheapest but the conversion process is very hard and you end up needing Resolve Studio which also cost money but worse time to do it. So 15 Pro Max or 15 Pro is the easiest. But iPhone 16 is right around the corner so maybe just wait for the next gen - till Apple fix all their problem tho our testing on this channel. So you have a more finished product? I think the 16 is gonna be a lot better (and it is not Pro so a lot cheaper). If you can't wait, you should borrow an iPhone 15 Pro from friends. Lot of ppl have that phone

I couldn't tell if the EGO was better or not if properly set up but noticed the iPhone has excellent stabilization and colors. I also noticed one half of the video on iPhone was lower quality, funny how that optical trick seems to work out ok. Any idea when the iPhone 16 will come and if there's any rumors about improved quality?

You're the greatest Hugh Hou! I can't believe how quickly the capability of this is happening on such a new device! It's crazy, the Apple Vision Pro will be my upgrade from the Oculus Go! I know, such a long time between upgrades. I love using VR to experience content over gaming and have been waiting for something of the highest quality, with a super intuitive interface to come along. I didn't imagine it would be Apple, but here we are. I haven't bought an Apple product since the first generation iPod Touch, because it disappointed me so. Something seems different about the Apple Vision Pro, though. Thank you! For such a big jump I personally will not recommand. Vision Pro work great with other apple products and you need an iPhone to even use it. Quest 3 is a better choice for now for you to ease back in VR.

Hugh, Thank you for your recommendation! Yeah, I had to use an iPhone just to order the Apple Vision Pro. The good news is, Apple is allowing me 14 days to try it out, and if it's not a good fit, I can get a full refund. I guess the reason I picked the Apple Vision Pro over a traditional (and more cost effective) VR headset like Meta, is because I'm more into media consumption over VR gaming. VR Gaming does interest me, but I really want something I can watch media in it's most fantastic light. I waited for something like the Apple Vision Pro to come out, something with mind blowing resolution and with one of the best screen technologies possible, OLED. Though LCD is fine (and cheaper), I wanted those true inky blacks, something I don't get with my projector system (on my 120" screen). And sure, consumer TV's are getting to that size, but Apple Vision Pro, though expensive, is still much cheaper than the upcoming 100 and 110 inch TV's I saw at CES. And with the Vision Pro, I can take my HUGE TV screen anywhere. I can't wait to see your continued content on the Apple Vision Pro. Thank you again for your recommendation on the Quest 3. If the Vision Pro doesn't do the job, I can definitely try the Quest. Have a great one! vgv

The Pro 2 potentially can cut out 3D Spatial video.

Spatial is just a format. And 3D can be spatial with free transcoded workflow. I have a tutorial here. Actually this one is a good one.

at 4:03, you say that AVP's 8K quality is "“as good as Meta Quest 3 or maybe slightly better.” I'm confused. I thought the visual quality of AVP is supposed to be a quantum leap beyond the Meta Quest 3.

In theory and in spec YES. But when image quality to that level in 8K (both can play 8K 60fps), the different is marginal in visual. Most people honestly can't tell. So I foucs more on the thing people can tell immediately - playback smoothness and HDR color depth. Those aspect Vision Pro is better and obvious.

@@hughhou Whenever I look at footage I've shot with my R5C/VR180 on the Quest 2, the quality seems to be subpar. KZbin videos also look subpar. I wonder if the Quest 3 is that much better and further if the Apple Vision Pro is better. I'd love to see my work in it's best quality if possible.

How does one one port and play Insta360 videos in APV?

Yes. Insta360 just 360 video - so follow part 2 - the 360 playback. Render H.265 in 80mbps from your Insta360 Studio. Airdrop it again onto your vision pro and then just set it as VR360 and none for 3D. There you go. You can play ANY Insta360 video inside AVP in stunning quality. 360 never look that good lol.

So go to the original videos (links are in this video description). The download link labeled "for Vision Pro" - try the 100Mbps version first. The link is google drive so you just download it. Then you can use iCloud to transfer the mp4 file onto your Vision Pro. That's it.

More usefully for me, i'd love to see how to run VR180 in a panel on the Meta Quest. Most people don't know how to film in VR180 so subjects are too close, cameras are too low to the ground, movement is not done carefully etc.

Yes will do! Vision Pro does also require different workflow - it is lot more forgiving in motion b/c of frame rate and refresh rate matching.

What about editing 3d videos within Resolve Studio? Both MoonVR and Reality Player suck badly as they can't play 8K60fps files properly. Motion blur they produce is insane. Playback looks 30fps (much worse than on Quest 2) at half the resolution it normally looks on Pigasus on Quest 2 when playing the same file. Apple's videos have nice motion clarity. So I'm waiting for Pigasus or Hereshere VR players to create a real VR player that works correctly on AVP. Meanwhile I'll be watching 180VR videos on Pigasus player on Quest.

@@hughhou I know Herespehere is working on one. My absolute favorite VR player is Pigasus on Quest. Plays 8K60fps correctly, smooth motion so that's a reference quality I'm looking for in AVP. Actually Apple's File app and Moon Player play 60fps correctly too in AVP, but only in 2D version. In 3D version, it's a mess. Thanks for the free videos, Hugh, but I couldn't even open your Paris one 100Mb version on Moon Player. It's stuck on Importing for 10 minutes.

@@Kougs For now, AVP owners are stuck with Moon Player even though it's a blurry mess. I assure you these files can look far better on AVP than the way they're being displayed by Moon Player. Reality Player just crashes my AVP on almost every file I try.

Right now yes. But this is NOT Apple native MV-HEVC implementation. So no foveated rendering and no those sweet Apple Spatial Video things. This is just step closer. If you are just consuming content, yes, AVP is not worth that price. Especially Quest 3 has so many ready to go content.
