These ceremonies are just about symbolism. At least it's a good thing in the United States that presidencies are limited to two terms, which unfortunately is not the case everywhere.
@AmericanEnglishBrent16 күн бұрын
I agree, Maria. Our senators do not have term limits at this point. I wonder if that will change.

@AmericanEnglishBrent Actually I meant the comparison with other countries, but maybe the lower positions should be limited too. Thank you for your answer and consent.

In China they vote their pm thru party voting. One must show if he/ she really deserves the post. Most of became pm came from the minimal post or office. Until the vying for the position rise into power. Like pres xi. He came into a province and rose into power. He knows how to run the government.

Sometimes an inaugural address can make you smile. On March 4, 1837, Martin Van Buren made the audience laugh when he said "Unlike all who have preceded me, the Revolution that gave us existence as one people was achieved at the period of my birth; and whilst I contemplate with grateful reverence that memorable event..." Van Buren meant to refer to the American Revolution as the great event, but instead referenced his own birth 🤭
