How To Waterproof Work Boots (Cheap, Easy & Effective)

Here's how I waterproof my work boots. I've been waterproofing my work boots for years and I just wanted to share with you how I do it and what products I use.
For this video, I've used 3 different types of work boots I use (smooth leather, nubuck and leather + fabric mix).

Adrian, an English boot maker on youtube shows how to handle Suede /Nubuck to keep them dry and clean. He also explains waterproofing or as he calls it, "amphibio." However, once you go waterproof, the Suede/Nubuck is lost. You do end up with waterproof boots though, just darker and more supple. I did this with my suede Keen hiking shoes and they look awesome. Altberg is his channel and he has videos of each concept.

Hey Stephen, yeah, that's my experience as well. I can't remember if I mention it in this video but that's how I ruined my Caterpillar Nubuck boots as well, by going full waterproof on them applying mink oil paste. Waterproofing wax will outlast any spray. They are so short lasting, I do not use sprays anymore. I tried many last year and they all failed quickly or do not work at all, even expensive ones. Best regards.

Interesting. Thanks Steven. Would you apply wax to Gore-Tex footwear or you're talking mainly about waterproofing leather?
