Best video I've seen so far for how to wax your board. Can you also do a deep dive into how to tune/sharpen your edges? Incl. the different angles and which one should be used for which riding style? That would be awesome!

Great content as always. I normally drip wax on my boards (resulting in a lot of wax used, and an awful lot of scraping) but will give the block rubbing method a go from now on. How about a video on tuning edge angles and detuning the outer contact points?

I use purl wax iron, works great!
@_-0_x_-_p_0-_Ай бұрын
Purl is nice wax. I found it a bit harder to scrape than One Ball, but it really performs well and stays on the board. Something to note and is not performance related, but it could be a factor for some, One ball has scented wax which may seem pointless, it is kind of a nice bonus. (I know it's gimmicky, but if Purl added scents, they would sell more).

No boarder is taking a whiff of their board. Would not affect sales...
@_-0_x_-_p_0-_Ай бұрын
@@thatgreg7 @thatgreg7 That's where you're wrong. It’s not about smelling it after, it's while you’re waxing. If it didn't affect sales, companies like One Ball wouldn't make scented wax a huge part of their business. Cleaning product companies and car wax companies add smells to make their product more appealing to the consumer. It makes perfect "scents" lol

Before waxing should you scrap off any previous wax so it's a fresh slate or doesn't really matter
@mankybrainsАй бұрын
Depends on what you want to do. I put on wax at the end of last season to help with board storage. It's the wax that came with my wax kit. Now that the season is open, instead of applying new wax, I just scraped that off for the time being. Works just as good for casual riding. After a couple more runs, I'll be applying the Purl wax I got. Having almost 60 days snowboarding last season and applying the wax for different temps, it's slightly noticeable. This was the first time using the wax from the kit and I wouldn't complain. I'm not any pro or anything.
@_-0_x_-_p_0-_Ай бұрын
@@shishio0708 you shouldn’t be able to scrape off any old wax, especially if you’ve already ridden it. When you wax a board you scrape until nothing comes off. You do want to clean it first with a base cleaner though. Make sure the base cleaner is wiped off and dry before you put the wax on.

Also for the tip and tail, maybe I’m just lazy but it’s a pain in the ass to scrape there.. at least me to me lol Also dont be like me this morning and scrape in a hurry and half ass it. You will NOT be faster and you will get stuck. I had to find some nice and steep stuff to overcome them that friction and get rid of that extra wax. Bummer way to start to the day hahah

How would one determine the “snow temperature “? I assume it’s based on the temperature on the slopes?
@tribesnr4216 күн бұрын
yes. You should know the average temprature of the place you are snowboarding at and use the wax that's closest on average. But not having the 100% correct temp wax isn't that importend. Just better.

What temp do you have your iron at?
@jim22457 күн бұрын
noticed it began at 115 degrees when iron was warming up. When iron progressed to middle section, temp varied from 143 - 150 degrees. Seems to be a good method to melt wax onto board moving quickly, but not too fast. The scraping part is really helpful, using just enough pressure in all areas to scrape small amounts off until its smooth. I think everyone is different since you don't want to remove too much, otherwise what's the point. I've heard of boarders applying maybe 2 layers within a couple days or put wax on, scrape minimally and let the snow on runs smooth it out.
@zifengjiang5899Ай бұрын
Hi noob here, if I don't want to go as fast can I not wax my board?
